    Is there a particular salt to use or just any salt will do?

    Bigger cooler, more beer and ice and a little less salt sounds like a party.

      We move are beverages: beer water soda to another cooler that has plain ice keeping the salted ice cooler from being opened & closed
      When the regular ice cooler(s) are low we add more drinks to the salted ice cooler 🤟

    Does it have to be the rock salt or can you use regular salt to do the same

      If you want a faster effect, use the fine salt.
      If you want it to be slightly slower use the course.

      Just regular Morton’s salt or this ice cream salt

    • @txfieros
      @txfieros 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mikeselchow kosher salt. I also do this in ice chests to cool down drinks but I add some water to melt the ice so there is more contact area with the drinks and then add the kosher salt. The water eventually get into the low 20’s which is still pretty chilly and gets drinks cold quick.

    Bit of difference between getting colder and getting it colder faster. If you want to cool off a liquid in bottle faster, the formula is :
    Mass of beer * heat capacity * temperature drop of beer per minute = heat transfer coefficient x Area of bottle x (temp beer - temp of ice bath).
    So, if you want to increase speed up the cooling of the beer, yes it helps to use an salt ice bath, but it really helps to stir both the beer and the ice bath. slosh the cooler around boys!

    Showing us how to Get Beers Cold and Make Tasty BBQ ... What did the world do right to deserve you guys?

  • @bloodsport5112
    @bloodsport5112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes Sir! We were in Sumter, SC in June/July 2018. Heat index was 119. A beer out of an iced cooler you got about two sips before it was too warm to drink. I got a 40lb bag of pool salt. Poured some of it in the ice and mixed it up. We had slushy beers in about 20 minutes. Plus you get the salt taste with each sip. Had that bag of salt the whole way back to Alaska. We were in the western US and it was HOT. I would buy warm beer and no kidding, in less than 20 minutes they were freezing. Had to take them out of the cooler so the tops wouldn't pop off. Awesome trick...

    • @anthonyb1430

      Here in Moncks Corner and i agree with that heat! I also use a Yeti beer coozy and it keeps the beer colder longer! Cheers

    You'd go to jail for freezing a beer where I come from, and when you arrive you'd meet blokes who served warm beer to their guests as well.
