What a lovely man..My grandpa loved him so much, met him often from Dumaron and kashi maharaj days. Ustad ji also loved Paan with high dose of Chuna. Akhtaribai was the queen of late 30's and all these adolescents..my grandpa and his friends were mad to listen to her. Saigal sahab ruled those years. More than his songs, he was more famous amongst youth for his morning ritual- Matkaa me rakha hua madira. Kya log rhe honge wo..wo jamana!

अंतिम लाइन बहुत ही पीड़ादायक है। केवल अवार्ड से पेट नहीं भरता। बहुत आश्चर्य कि ऐसे महान कलाकार को ऐसा कहना पड़ रहा है। ये तो हमारे समाज पर एक थप्पड़ है। हम केवल तारीफ करके अपने जिम्मेदारी से भाग सकते। होना तो ये चाहिए कि ऐसे महान कलाकार को जिसने अपनी साधना से हमारे मन को प्रफुलित किया उनके के लिए हमारा समाज आगे आये। तभी ऐसे कलाकर दुबारा समाज को मिलेगें। नही तो कौन इतनी साधना के बाद जीवन के अंतिम दिनों में ऐसा कहने के लिए अपना पूरा जीवन लगाएगा।

Request to all, kindly do not post comments about religion or communities..the purpose of music is harmony. Particularly music by someone like Bharatratna Bismillah Khan...whose life is an example of communal harmony...He was more pak muslim than any Mullah and pavitra Hindu more than any Pandit..because he understood the religion correctly..love, happiness all around..

A million thanks to the person who uploaded this video!! Ustad Khan Saheb remains a true legend and will live in the hearts of music lovers forever. Listening to his Shehnai is a divine experience. Doordarshan still hasn't been able find an equivalent replacement for his Mangaldhwani and I'm sure they will not be able to find one..
He is a legend.. he was a musician so belonged to God/Allah/ Eeshwar, whatever name you may give to that All Powerful and All Enlightenment.. problem is the way he loved his music he found true power of God. We don't love enough with the same amount of passion as he did. Where there is love, there cannot be any religion, tolerance, intolerance etc etc..

@@rakhimukerji7937 well you can br ashamed but pls don’t be ashamed as a Hindu as it was not hindu way , i dint know about kashi and wht he didn’t go inside but yes certain temples have some rules which came as an after effect of invasions that were ruthless to temples, anti - idolatry cultures destroyed many idols and hence certain rules where made as a protection for the divine premises . This laws has a history and as they say history repeats if we forget the past and hence it is ok certain laws stays for harmony sake . And a true devotee dont need to be inside the temple to experience the divine , so lets not make an issue of rules that came with reasons just for one example case .

I don't know much about this kind of music but at this age he's so creative and spontaneous , he can listen well and keeps "sur" above all in his world , and keep it's divine and says it is immense , his language dialect of Lucknow / banaras is so beautiful .. I like he is of front , straight and very simple and I can imagine how he would be in his youth he still has spark...

A lot of things he said touched me- " Jo jhagda karte hai wo besure hai, wo sur me ho jayenge- the names sur (who are in tune with cosmic frequency i.e. devta) and asur (who are out of tune i.e. rakshasas) is given in ancient Indian texts by this logic only. Truly everything begins with Bismillah, most auspicious event begins with a shehnai.

My heart goes out for him. our country has suchhhh great souls, whose music reach the world. Indian classical music gives face to India in the World. But Alass, our musicians have to ask for financial help. Mar jaaane waali baat hai sharm se. Kaise es virasat ko bachayein hum. Our kids can not have career in classical music, if they can not earn livelihood from it. If any foreign dignatories come to India, we feel so proud to show off our musical heritage, but we can not support it... shame . There has to be some way out of it..
