I always considered this not a reunion, but the real FINAL episode of the _Andy Griffith Show._ This movie definitely brings the proper closure to the legendary series in my opinion...

There is a book on ‘Andy Griffith’s Manteo: His Real Mayberry’
By John Railey | May 9th, 2022" it is just earth shaking because Andy created his show from the inspiration NC. You google some of the interview (on Fox 8 News segment) the author John Railey gives you see how Shakespeare hamlet gave Andy's break thru as a comedian on the NC Island of Roanoke. It really pushed the country boy into being a cosmopolitan person.

I watched this movie this afternoon on METV. I had seen it announced for the past two weeks and couldn't wait to see it. I read the comments, and even if the movie or plot was not perfect to everyone's satisfaction, it was wonderful to see the cast reunited! Yes, it's true to see the passing of time on the actors, but can I clarify that I began watching the reruns in the early seventies, and I am no longer in my teens! In my opinion, it was about this beloved show, the enduring magic it had, and the nostalgia it made us feel! I have to say that when Andy got off his car in the opening scene and begins to reminisce when he and Opie are going fishing, I began to cry, AND during the final scene when Andy and Barney lower the flag I couldn't stop crying! By the way, I watch "The Andy Griffith Show" every night! Maybe Andy is my platonic crush! 😉

The set location for 'Mayberry' was filmed in Los Olivos, CA.
The original Mayberry exterior sets had been demolished along with the old Desilu 40-acres backlot in 1976.

I love this film and have it, I also have the complete series ,gomer Pyle series, and the first season of Mayberry rfd. I don't understand some people commenting on how old they look. I mean come on what do u expect for them to be the same age as the series. People grow older but some people act like it's actors fault for aging. Like they expect them to never age, but anyways I love the show and this film.

always been a big fan of the show. This movie was okay but it ran mostly on nostalgia. The plot and storyline definitely could have been better, trying to do justice to an iconic classic show from the 60's in an 80's setting gave birth to a ton of possibilities that I feel were wasted. it was okay though.

They ALL look old and tired. Opie looked like Hitler with that mustashe, and I thought Barney and Thelma Lou had BEEN got married. The producers should have made them all cut and dye their hair so they would look younger and more up with the times. I thought since Gomer had joined the marines, he would have had a better job by now and not still be working in a garage. They should have fixed Thelma Lou up better than that, and Andy didn't seem to know ANY thing about what his own son's life was like as if they hadn't talked in YEARS! They should have been better connected than that even without Facebook and even if people weren't using cell phones quite as much as they do today.

The final episode of _The Andy Griffith Show_ was COMPLETE GARBAGE. The show ended so horrible the way it was morphed into _Mayberry RFD_ with the Italian family moving into Sam Jones' farm to become farm hands. Thankfully they did the _Return To Mayberry_ movie to give the series the REAL proper positive closure the show desperately deserved...

This movie made me sad. Some things should just be left to our memories as they were. This was poorly done. There was no way they were going to recapture the magic of the old series, so why try? It was just depressing to see them attempt to be funny again. Too much time had passed.

Ironically, Francis Bavier, who played Aunt Bee on the series, was still alive at the time of the movie's release. However, she was in poor health and declined to participate. Janet Waldo, who guest starred on an episode of TAGS as Amanda, did the voiceover as Andy visited Aunt Bee's grave. I often wonder if Ms. Bavier watched the movie when it came out. She died 3 years after it was released.

I'm not going through the whole list, but he is verified gay by multiple witnesses and photos, practically his whole family are Muslim and he has obviously shown he is a Muslim sympathizer. He studied the Koran and grew up under Islam during his early formative years. Obama doesn't release his college transcripts because it will show that he applied as a foreign student. His supposed 1961 birth certificate is an obvious computer manufactured forgery.
He studied Marxism as a young man, his mentors were all Marxists as was his real father Frank Marshall Davis, his fake father and his real mother were either 100% communist or sympathizers. I can go on and on but you low information people will never get it... too brainwashed by the PC leftist media.

The ending is so unrealistic. Barney tells the people of Mayberry to vote for Andy as a write in candidate. First of all for write in votes to count the candidate has to file to run as a write in. The candidate himself has to do it Barney could not do it for Andy. Even so there is no way Andy would win as a last minute write in candidate. He had been gone for 20 years most of the people of Mayberry knew nothing about him. I did not like this movie's ending Barney should have been elected Sheriff.
