I moved from an original SE to the 13 mini,as soon as it came out. The other day, in the Apple store, I reviewed the 15 range, and was surprized at the weight. The 6.7 inches models were too large and heavy to pop into my right-hand trouser pocket - where my 13 mini normally spends my day. Nothing else goes into that iPhone pocket, a habit that I started with the original SE. Yes it is easier to use the larger keyboards, and yes the camera is better. But, I agree, the 13 mini is really the best iPhone size for most people. If I am in a café, I reach into my shopping bag and pull out my mini iPad, if I want to send a message, or read a book , or watch a video.
My iPhone 4s was my most favorite phone ever. So the iPhone 13 mini gave me a second chance to relive those small phone days. I wish we could get another mini. I don’t need much and a lot of people feel even that.
@@r3dcup I live back and forth from Korea and New Zealand. I know what bad cell coverage is. Still I mange to use my iphone 13 mini with out having to charge during the day. Or maybe a single charge of around 30~40% during the day when I'm on the music app a lot when driving. just to add on, just checked my screen on time while commenting and i get 10hours screen off time with 6hours screen on time on average with 90% battery health. 13mini battery life is underrated.
That, or their job necessitates ~500 pictures or photos taken per day and many hours of screen on time to document each one of those in great detail… I had a 13 mini. Just couldn’t keep up. The second time I had to pause my work day (resulting in an unpaid waiting period) to charge it I traded it in for a Pro Max. Just need the better battery. I Apple would pursue the double stacked, faster charging battery tech similar to OnePlus and other Chinese Android manufacturers (not recommending to switch these btw), then the mini would be great and the battery capacity limitation could be overcome by charging speed.
Ive had my 13 mini for 2 years now with 87% battery health…. I WILL breathe new life into it with a new battery once that battery becomes a chore to charge… I love my iPhone 13 mini and recommend anyone who digs smaller phones and not a phablets….
I did this switch 3 days ago! Absolutely loving the 13 mini, I was able to find one brand new still (some sellers have old stock here in the PH) For normal usage, I still got through an 8-hour day out without charging, got home and had 29% battery to spare. 5G was on all day too.
I've been on Android my entire life, and i switched to the 13 mini. I wanted to try out iOS, since everyone always bugs me about iMessage...This video perfectly sums up my experience. I really hope the iPhone SE update in 2025 results in a "13 min pro" experience.
Still rocking my iPhone 13 mini until now. I'm not planning to let this go, unless Apple decided to discontinue the support. My battery health is down to 86% but still lasts a whole day.
I also switched from the max to the iphone 13 mini. I love that it fits in my pocket and my small bags. I have not upgraded to the 14 nor the 15 because I do not want to switch back to a big phone.
I own a Mini iPhone 13, I won’t go back to a larger phone. I find the camera is fine, it isn’t a Pro nor has the higher specs of the 15 but the camera is the same as the standard iPhone 13. They say covid with everyone being at home the disadvantages of a large phone was forgotten. Plus the Mini isn’t small, it is as large as the original plus phone of the past. What has happened the phones of today are monster bricks. Plus it’s battery is fine for all day use, again expectations a phone should go 2 days of use is something new. I am hopeful a new mini iPhone may be possible but not soon. The iPhone SE is rumour to be larger more a iPhone 13 in size. I brought a second unboxed iPhone 13 mini ready to go if my current one is lost, dies.
I did the exact opposite switch and I couldn't be happier. The battery performance is worlds apart. You have to charge the mini more often, so the battery will degrade a lot quicker. You might be happy with the battery life at first but it will get worse. And it gets worse faster than with the bigger phones. I agree, the 13 mini may be the best phone apple made and I would love to see a version with improved battery performance / technology in the future. It just feels right in your hand.
5:18 didn’t neglect that group, thats what the regular Pro does. Theres no space for all the stuff you’re asking for on a mini phone. This is coming from a 12 mini user. You shouldn’t be expecting the implausible from small component estate.
I have a regular 13 at 80% battery and minor cosmetic damage. I’m heavily considering getting a mini since I’m stepping away from social media and the idea of a tiny phone is great for me right now.
I purchased my iPhone 13 mini refurbished. I really should’ve picked up a 512 but I have a 256 and it runs like butter. I really really like it. I also have an iPhone 15 Pro Max. I wish Apple would bring back the smaller form factor like a mini, and like you said, make it a pro version. I would totally buy one!
Upgraded from the XS to a mint condition Product Red 13 Mini back in January. I knew I was swapping my XS this year, as i thought it was about to lose the latest iOS, but its battery health (or lack of it) hastened the upgrade. Using a bumper and MagSafe grip - not a fan of full cases - and have got myself quite a few MagSafe accessories. These include a portable charging stand that I can use on the go, and to trigger Standby Mode when I'm home. Strange to think that this 'Mini' iPhone has the same footprint as my iPhone 7. How times have changed. Thanks for the content!
I did exactly the same thing (14 pro max to 13 mini) after deeply regretting moving from a 12 mini to the 14 pro max due to battery life concerns. The 13 mini is a perfect daily driver for an average user like me and I never needed the power or camera of the bigger phone although I know some people really do. I so wish for a pro mini and would pay top dollar for one but my 13 mini is just fine.
Ive had mine for nearly 3 years now.. everything still excellent with it.. just spent $100 for a new battery install. The battery does last most full days for me. If it had a 90hz+ screen I wouldn't have any interest in a new phone.
I have used the iphone 13 mini for more than a year and I am currently at 90% battery health I am able to last 2 days with a single charge by using Accessibility shortcut to reduce white point(75%) and also I turned off background app refresh since a lot of apps really don't make any use of the background refresh and it just wastes battery life. For context this is my only phone I have around 5 hours of screen time on average I don't use social media and use the phone mainly for work and Waze when I am traveling somewhere.
I’ve had my 13 mini for two years now and still love it. I had the SE first gen prior and while similar in design which I prefer, it was heavier, but 13 mini design and weight made it much better. My battery is currently at 85% after two years and I intend to get the battery changed when it gets to 80% since I plan on having this phone for at least another 3-4 years. It’s a great phone and serves all my needs and is great part of my multi device system. Apple needs to realize that bigger doesn’t always mean better.
I have the iPhone 13 mini and I was so bummed when they discontinued it. I don’t know what I’m gonna do when I need to upgrade to another phone I like my phone to disappear in my pocket and not be bulky.
100% with you on a mini pro. I quit social media years ago (best decision ever) and my phone is used more for music, podcasts, light reading via Instapaper, notes, reminders, essentially more on the go productivity apps and audio consumption. I would love the pro though for the camera quality and longevity in terms of it maintaining it's performance for years to come.
The iPhone 12 mini is what finally swayed me back to Apple after over 12+ years of staunch android. (I was using the Samsung S24 ultra beast and the small size as a side phone lured me well) now iPhone has been my primary
I purchased a 13 mini brand new from Apple. Used it for two years and then got a 13 Pro Max. I don’t regret it at all. Love the small form factor of the mini, but 60hz and ok battery life turned out to be a bigger drawback than expected. And no, I don’t play any mobile games.
I had an iPhone 13 mini for 3 years. Today I switched to a 16 pro max. I loved how little it was, performed just as good as any iPhone, and if I needed a bigger screen, I would just use my iPad! It got to the point where my “max battery” was 60% and I was dropping phone calls, camera never got used bc someone always had a better pro model around. I feel like after 3 years it warrants an upgrade. If they brought back the mini (or even pro mini), I would be back in a heartbeat
I also recently had a 15PM and dropped down to a 13 mini, but I move to a normal 15 and then moved back to a 15 Pro. I did love the form factor, however the battery life didn’t quite suit my daily usage.
Couldn’t agree more. I just bought a 13 mini for the third time. Also owned the 12 mini. Every time I ‘upgrade’ from the mini, I end up buying a mini again. I called this last one ‘13 mini for life!’ So there’s that. :)
Two days ago, I lost my 13 mini in our river. I ordered a 13 pro now because of the camera. I already know that I'll switch back to the 13 mini due to the size and - as you highlighted - the detox effect. I would love to see a 17 pro mini, too!
I have a large android moto g73 that I use for downloading videos and watching movies etc but I read a lot while I'm out and it's just too big and heavy and doesn't sit comfortably in my pocket so I've bought a secondhand 13 mini as an everyday reader/phone, I disabled loads of features I don't use and on most days it's still above 70% by the end of the day and the battery quality is at 83%. Perfect for my lifestyle I love it 👍
The mini was very badly marketed, it would have sold better if it wasn’t labelled as “mini” as that gives the impression of less. The mini also suffered because it launched during Covid where people couldn’t access it in a store so easily.
Still using the 12 mini.. I have big hands and love the form factor. Will not upgrade until they make a new smaller phone or it is no longer supported. I usually keep a magnetic external battery on mine at work. It's a small compromise but worth it.
It's just sad how smartphones are becoming larger with no compact alternatives.. Nowdays calling 6.2 phones compact it just ridiculous 5.8 should come back, it was the perfect size not too small, not too large. I don't mind the 13 mini, actually I'm on the lookuout for one right now, is just that they're all refurbished and have heacy use marks.
I really wish we got a new mini iphone in 2024 !! I have been holding on to my SE 2020 and have not bought a new phone in hopes that apple will make a new mini iphone. But if it doesn’t, i’ll just switch to a pixel and save money.
Mini was a perfect phone for me as I only use my phone for a few emails; texts and calls: I just got a 15 plus due to the screen size because of my eye health but if my health wasn’t bad.. I would’ve stayed with the mini: the accessories for it were perfect because of its dimensions and capacity. If you’re looking for media use, I would go for the pro models as they have battery but they introduced the plus models and I’m impressed with all the battery life.
I am a bit baffled when I hear people saying that a 1000$ phone that came out a couple years ago can still run every apps as a new one. Yeah, that's what I would expect? I mean, everyday apps don't really require that much CPU/GPU capabilities. You are not running a deep calculation software that requires a lot of power. Most of the time you use your phone to send a text, write the grocery list, take a picture, browse a website. 99.9% of the people could just get along well with any phone that came out a few years ago, even 5 years ago would still be great. I understand that you might need a new one because of safety features not getting onto older models for marketing reasons. There is no reason to keep upgrading each year, just do it when your one doesn't get any new safety updates.
what society lacks is honesty and authenticity. some are blind to the benefits of a smaller phone or, worse, choose to ignore them because of the addiction they've submitted to. I'm talking about the addiction towards living a digitally-centred lifestyle: hours of mindless scrolling, sharing everything about yourself on social media profiles, preferring to text remotely over meeting in person, being consumed by soulless, temporal trends and hivemind opinions. "oh man, I could never use a small phone, it would suck so much if I didn't have the battery life or the screen size to sustain these perfectly harmless, totally healthy, digital habits of mine..." small phones would really help alleviate a lot of problems in my opinion.
"The camera is just not good" like bro wtf, it has the same camera as an iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. I've used an iPhone 5s until 2022 and it still takes phenomenal pictures
I have a feeling that Apple will continue to make these very small size improvements to the new iphones each year, and then in a year or 2 they'll reintroduce the mini size, at least in the non-pro line, and they might just call that the SE version. Here's to hoping that actually happens.
I did it seven months ago, switched to iPhone mini 13,seriously it's balance back my life 😊if only my apple watch ultra have a camera,I don't need to take a phone everywhere, at home I use ipad M1 pro for regular browsing and my media use, I don't play mobile games only videos game on console and work I use laptop
I had the iPhone mini 13 for a few years. It’s the best sized phone. The A15 chip does everything one needs, and the battery is surprisingly good. I gave up on it because of the camera. I use the zoom a lot for nature stuff around the area, but never have a real camera on hand when a pelican or sugar glider is infront of me. Couldn’t go all out Max, but went with regular 15 pro. Camera is a huge improvement. I would have gone 15mini if it had the regular 15 camera. Wish it caught on better.
I can’t agree with you more. I’m using 14 pro now and I’m missing my iPhone 12 mini. Although, yes, the camera and the battery were much worse, it was definitely a social media detox. I was using my phone less. If there’s a new mini coming, I’d give up battery and camera to get it BUT I’d never ever give up 120hz display. I feel like I’m looking at a slow-motion when I use any 60hz display now.
Currently most of influencer perceive about 13 mini, but it was needed three years ago. You can see within months or year most of influencer mostly apple influencer made videos and appreciated about 13 mini.
I completely disagree with your comments on the camera. The 13 mini was praised almost universally for having the exact same camera as the standard 13. It's amazing and I don't think it lacks anything. I didn't even see any difference in the examples you just showed
I'm still using the 12 Mini, which was an upgrade from the original SE for me. I just don't want a big phone. I'm considering getting a new iPhone 13, just to hold me over for 3 or 4 more years in hopes of another new small phone model coming out.
I agree one hundred percent Apple should definitely come back with another mini. I myself have been considering buying a refurbished iPhone mini for the exact reason. Too heavy to lug around.
I'm still rocking my 12 mini!!! lol Love the phone. I don't think it's small at all. Modern phones are way too big. If ever Apple makes a new Mini, I'll be first in line to get it!
For me iPhone 13 Mini last for two days with two SIMs active. Now it lasts over three days with single SIM and just small usage - 15-20 minutes screen on time, few short calls.
Yup. I’ll hold onto this mini 13 as long as I can.. or until they make a new one. Also, I think the camera is just fine. I dont need a super awesome camera, just something that looks nice when I decide to take pictures. Cameras are so good nowadays
8:08 i highly disagree. How much you use a phone depends on YOU and how YOU set it up. I do want to be reachable and know what's going on. You can do the same with the bigger ones too when you remove all the distracting stuff. Just keep in mind if people feel like you never respond or take days to respond they start to find new friends.
My wife had an iPhone 5s, then an iPhone 7plus and Huawei and Samsung of similar size. She bought a 13mini and was always happy with it. She has small hands and it's enough for her. I use a 13pro max and am thinking about getting a smaller one for the next phone. But I'm scared because most people use displays larger than 6 inches for some reason.
If apple makes a new iPhone mini I buy it, but meanwhile thinking really to shift from pro max to mini, agree with all the facts you described on you review, Thank you
I’ve got a 15 pro ( bought mid Nov) I can’t stand big phones I feel the 15 pro is a good size but mann I’m tempted to get the mini 13 every time I look at it side by side. The size is so much better, it feels like what a phone should be tbh not bulky not huge just perfect. Just saying is it smart to sell the 15 pro and get the 13 mini? And a MacBook with the spare cash?😂😂
I made a similar move, from a 14 Pro to a 13 Mini. Not sure what i’ll switch to when it dies, as I hate the bulk of the newer ones when carried in my pocket.
The problem is the apps no longer working as the OS gets too old. Just had that happen to me, now I have to look for a new phone. Now I can no longer afford these huge prices Apple has, yet I don't want to settle for minimalist battery life. Not keen on maybe having to switch to Android either.
I have had an iPhone 13 mini for a couple of years now and it’s the best phone I’ve ever had by far. Small, lightweight and “enough”. I think the battery life is good/decent, and I just use a macsafe powerbank if needed (battery is now 87% capacity). I do think the camera is pretty good, and I wish Apple would continure making a mini. I wanna keep my iPhone 13 mini for as long time as possible.
I am contemplating getting an used 13 mini instead to replace my 4 year old budget oneplus phone. I like the thought of having a "detox" smartphone that doesn't need to be the newest model. I am only replacing my oneplus, as it hasn't received any updates for a year (and never will again)

Anyone who needs a longer battery life than what the mini offers, they need to be off their phones and enjoy life more.
Nah, lemme be an addict
I can tell you’ve never been in a foreign country with poor cellular connectivity.
Absolutely loving the 13 mini, I was able to find one brand new still (some sellers have old stock here in the PH)
For normal usage, I still got through an 8-hour day out without charging, got home and had 29% battery to spare. 5G was on all day too.
Absolutely always loved 13mini.
I've been on Android my entire life, and i switched to the 13 mini. I wanted to try out iOS, since everyone always bugs me about iMessage...This video perfectly sums up my experience. I really hope the iPhone SE update in 2025 results in a "13 min pro" experience.
17 Pro mini please!
It will most likely not happen but damn I would buy it instantly
Nah no thx mini is dead
@@passivevii4052 it’s ok you can hate the mini even if it’s better
Battery only gonna last 1 hr 🥲 (I had a 13 mini and switched to 15 pro)
@@Lugiox i did the opposite lol
You nailed it in this video. Love your review. I’m sold! Going to hunt for a 13 mini now.
Still rocking my iPhone 13 mini until now. I'm not planning to let this go, unless Apple decided to discontinue the support. My battery health is down to 86% but still lasts a whole day.
I was right on the edge of doing this EXACT same swap... After watching your video, I bought a 13 mini on Swappa. We'll see how it goes!!!
How's the early days of using it?
Got mine today refurbished. Got it for $380. I hope I made the right decision.
5:18 didn’t neglect that group, thats what the regular Pro does. Theres no space for all the stuff you’re asking for on a mini phone. This is coming from a 12 mini user. You shouldn’t be expecting the implausible from small component estate.
I just switched from the iPhone 12 to the 13 mini. I have the blue one as well and absolutely love it.
Love the 13 mini so much, very little compromise in a perfectly portable form factor. It really is the best.
I have a regular 13 at 80% battery and minor cosmetic damage. I’m heavily considering getting a mini since I’m stepping away from social media and the idea of a tiny phone is great for me right now.
Man, I really hate corporate greed. They’re always upselling us and giving us less for more just to maximize their profits.
SWITCHED TO 14 PRO MAX TO S24 ULTRA TO 13 MINI A WEEK AGO. IN ONE WEEK USE I OBSERVED I SHOULD BUY IT 3 YEARS AGO.
Danke!
What’s the name of the widget you are clicking on with the Max at :57 seconds?
0:57
I had an iPhone 13 mini for 3 years. Today I switched to a 16 pro max. I loved how little it was, performed just as good as any iPhone, and if I needed a bigger screen, I would just use my iPad! It got to the point where my “max battery” was 60% and I was dropping phone calls, camera never got used bc someone always had a better pro model around. I feel like after 3 years it warrants an upgrade. If they brought back the mini (or even pro mini), I would be back in a heartbeat
I switched from a pixel 6, I really missed using a phone with one hand. It gives me more storage space in my pocket and feels amazing hands on
I also recently had a 15PM and dropped down to a 13 mini, but I move to a normal 15 and then moved back to a 15 Pro.
in a few day i'll get 13 mini new...after 15 pro i wish this model be worth
whats the name of the widget on the max phone from the thumbnail?
I did the same. Staying with mini 13 until new mini comes along.
Two days ago, I lost my 13 mini in our river. I ordered a 13 pro now because of the camera. I already know that I'll switch back to the 13 mini due to the size and - as you highlighted - the detox effect. I would love to see a 17 pro mini, too!
I totally agree. iPhone mini was (or still is) one of the most needed phones on the market.
Perfect for my lifestyle I love it 👍
Watching this on my 15PM knowing I’m not upgrading this year and maybe wanting to downgrade to the 13 mini. I had the 12 mini. Loved it.
The mini was very badly marketed, it would have sold better if it wasn’t labelled as “mini” as that gives the impression of less.
The mini also suffered because it launched during Covid where people couldn’t access it in a store so easily.
today I traded my 13 mini for 15 , It was super solid device but the battery life wasn't holding up after 2 years.
Nowdays calling 6.2 phones compact it just ridiculous
5.8 should come back, it was the perfect size not too small, not too large.
Currently I’m using blue 13 mini for my secondary phone and it’s great! But it’s hard to find the accessories😢
If they made the SE the mini lineup, it would be flawless!
Hey, why the icons on the Home Screen of your 15 pro max look different?
Had a lot of iPhones, this 12 mini is the first one I’ve had a battery replaced to keep it going. Don’t know what I’ll do when it dies…😢
I'm still rocking my 12 mini!!! lol Love the phone. I don't think it's small at all. Modern phones are way too big. If ever Apple makes a new Mini, I'll be first in line to get it!
1:04 yo whats that widget you got? looks slick
Battery life and screen size are a benefit over the mini and a big benefit for a lot of people.
Sales isn't killing iPhone mini it was apple that killed it… as so many other things apple does. I wish the mini became a powerhouse like a pro.
Nice widget right there at 0:58! What’s the name of the widget? Thanks in advance!
For me iPhone 13 Mini last for two days with two SIMs active. Now it lasts over three days with single SIM and just small usage - 15-20 minutes screen on time, few short calls.
I've been using the Samsung S10e since 2019 and it's the best phone I've ever had and that's after 8 iphones!
I agree with almost everything you said here, and the only reason I have the 13 Pro Max over the 13 mini is for the camera and battery.
If apple makes a new iPhone mini I buy it, but meanwhile thinking really to shift from pro max to mini, agree with all the facts you described on you review,
Thank you
I love the size of my 13 mini. It's not to large and heavy. I can operate it with one hand easily . I really hope they make a mini in the future again
13 mini should be good for at least 3 more years
I want the green mini but Im scared it will be outdated real soon
13 mini has the exact same sensors as the regular 13?
What’s that widget? 0:56
