I found Versailles first, they impacted me with their talent, then through youtube related viedos I found Malice Mizer; and I absolutely fell in love with them, they were so unique. I know a lot of people love them because of Mana's cuteness, but I sincerely love them because of their style of music, it's been 2 years listening them.
I love how gothic and serious in appearance Mana is and how angelic and graceful Hizaki is. But they're amazing guitarists and that's thousand times better than how they look.
Mana is a god for simply being Mana. Without him the Lolita fashion wouldn't be so big atm. He also composed most of the songs for Malice Mizer which is totally awesome. Mana is simply put both a legend and a God. He hasn't been composing gold lately but his fashion label is still going strong. Hizaki is amazing though and his guitar skills are awesome. He's also beautiful and colorful...alot like Mana in the 90's. x.x

@MsKac First time i heard Mana`s music i instantly liked it, but after a while his music became gray and boring, Versailles music never get boring, the most stupid thing Mana ever did was letting Juka go, he was in my opinion the most vivid and talented aspect of mdm, luckily Hizaki snapped him up and made a far better solo project than Mana did.
Ok Now for those people that say that Mana can't play guitar well go watch Malice Mizer-Gensou rakkuen (not sure if its written like that but still) and List to "Moi dix Mois-Dies irae anyway Both Hizaki and Mana sama are Exellent musicians i respect both and they inspire me. great video ^^
Mana isn't a guitar god but He can play well...I have seen some videos of him when he was playing in Matenrou and Girl'e...So, I think that, nowadays, he plays better than 20 years ago. That means that he's now a very good guitarist :-) Besides, he's a wonderful songwritter and he has his own look...that's pleasant.

@Chayira1 I kind of want to correct something that you said. Mana didn't create Gothic Lolita or Aristocrat Fashion to the T. Mana created Elegant Gothic Aristocrat (I believe that was the name) but not the fashion all together. I also don't think that it is right to call someone better than another. Yes Mana may be around longer, but doesn't serve anyone the right to call him 'better' Not trying to start a fight, just correcting and adding opinion. Thank you~

@MsKac My opinion is that Hizaki is a better composer, More skilled when playing the guitar and looks way better. Mana couldn`t play Hizaki`s stuff if he wanted to. And Hizaki`s music has so much more life in it, it seems more vibrant, but Mana`s playing always evolves around Half notes played together on either the E, a or d string, it gets old, quick.
i swear japanese are the only ones capable of pulling off perfectly looking like a girl without the need of plastic surgery....i like the song tho. been long time last time i listened to some j-rock.

@MsKac I`m not saying Mana`s playing is bad, it`s just not varied enough, it`s repeating and fans need something new, well, i guess half of mdm`s fans are fangirls who don`t care about music. Back to the stuff i started with, Mana`s guitar style and techniques are simple and even as a rookie guitar player i know them all, he should really widen his reportoar. And you were attacking my idol`s looks more than i attacked yours` looks. i just said i preferred Hizaki`s style.

I think they're both good, but they have different images. Hizaki takes on a cute look, like lolitas. Meanwhile, Mana has a more sexy and mature look, also like a lolita, but more of a gothic lolita? Mana's pretty good, though, considering how long ago these pictures were.
