  • In this video, we'll be discussing what it's like to be black and foreign in Ireland. We'll answer questions such as: What are the pros and cons of living in Ireland as a Black person? What are some of the challenges we face? And how can we overcome them?
Ireland is a beautiful country and I've lived here since I was 9 years old. But I know that there are people who are not so happy about my presence here. I hope this video can help communicate some of the challenges and positives of living in Ireland as a Black person, and help you make a decision about whether or not moving here is the right thing for you.
Being BLACK & Foreign in Ireland🇮🇪 in 2023-What it’s Like!
In this video I talked about what it's like being black in Ireland.
What's it's like getting a job as a black man
What it's like getting an accommodation as a black man in Ireland
    Is there RACISM in Ireland?
what it's like being in an interracial relationship in Ireland 🇮🇪 etc.

I believe everyone deserves a homeland, and the Irish have already suffered enough in the past, so Ireland should be for the Irish, with a few special exceptions. I don't say this in hate for others, but in favour of preserving a culture.

Has it really boiled down to a comparison of who has suffered the most?
Besides, those Irish who came to the US and prospered, seemed to do very little to preserve their culture, so I don't think the geography of it really matters.

In regards to the references, they were just being extra careful. As an irish person, you can judge the character of another irish person, tell if they are crazy etc., which extends to any person within their own culture.
When you are foreign, its not as easy for for an irish person to gauge whether they trust you or not. Most irish are kind and will happily help a genuine or kind foreign person, but are scared of being taken advantage of, or at least wary of people they dont know and cant judge the character of.
The reference checking was a way of identifying you as a genuine guy who is worth employing, rather than hiring a complete stranger trying to pull the wool over their eyes.

Thank you Michael for your honestly, and you are completely right about racism it’s everywhere.
But I disagree that it’s harder for black people to get a job, every race feels the system is against them even us white Irish, but it’s completely not true, it’s just as hard or easy for everyone, but that’s not to say their isn’t discrimination when trying to find a job,
I worked in a company that had 99% foreign workers I’ve seen seen Irish people dropping in CVs on a weekly basis but they never got hired, instead they hired foreign workers from outside the country, with zero english.
I was basically told by the company owner they only hire foreign workers because they have a greater hold over them and don’t with the Irish workers.
The best example of this is the boss told 1 foreign worker that had to leave work early for an hospital appointment if he leaves early not to come back, he stayed but most Irish workers would tell the boss where to go and leave.
Again thanks for sharing your experience 👍

For anyone here or coming to Ireland to work I would say "join a union" (very cheap) because I am Irish and worked with foreign people and saw how the employer took advantage of them. If this happens to you talk to your union and they will fix it. We have laws against this in Ireland. We also have "the workplace relations commission" which I used myself and won my case and received 5200 euros from my former employer.

Highlight what the country of Ireland provides you and others and don’t make everything about racism and someone in a shop calling you names type shite. And on top of that people who are fighting for the same jobs will blame affirmative action on them not getting the job (see how the Asians got AA redacted because they thought that was the reason they weren't getting into Harvard and other Ivy Leagues.) and think you have it easier than they do just because your skin color.

Ummm. Anyone can be any nationality. There are huge chunks of diversity all over the world due to current day immigration and past slavery. You really can't "seperate the races" at this point. Also it's Indigenous not Indian. Indians are people from India. Indigenous people are the people who existed in aa country or a continent before colonization and you ar partially right. SOME Indigenous cultures have been lost but not all. There are many that are still around in the U.S. today. Choctaw, Navajo, Mohawk, Menominee, and Mohican just to name a few.

Yea, someone can move to another country. If I move to Japan, it doesn’t mean I’m Japanese. If my children were born in Japan, it doesn’t mean they are now Japanese. Obviously, they would be white people living in Japan as Japanese citizens. And if whites took over Japan and dominated the genetics there, then that would be tragic. A loss of so called diversity because the Japs would be all but lost. It is anti white to demand so called diversity in Europe. Colonists are ok with leaving a small pocket of true Irish people in Ireland. I we that as wrong. Especially since it is being forced in an inorganic way. You have been brainwashed

Woah theres so many rude comments, I don't why people blame people who are originally from a different country instead of the Irish government for the problems in the country. You lived here for most of your life, hopefully there will be less racism in this country one day. Great to hear about your experience great video!

Whenever black people, especially black americans talk about unpleasant experiences, they are always racially gaslit and made to feel that it's them that's the problem. It's disgusting and heartbreaking, and makes me not ever want to tell a non black that something bad happened to me. It's so hard being black and I'll be damned if someone tries to tell me different, my feelings are real and valid as anyone else's 😢😞

After that viral ray-cist Ireland gynastic video, I came researching what its like for melanated folks in Ireland. you having a yt wife limits your perspective. I would rather hear from a melanated couple in Ireland not a interracial one. Half way through the video , I didn't want to hear anything from you anymore. especially when you make it seems as if so-call melanated ray-cism could ever be equal to that of ytes.

I agree with @DestinyAlready....You a r e limited in your perspective and you proved it when you began making excuses for racism in Ireland. "There is racism everywhere"...etc....If you understand the definition of racism and how racism works, you'd know that black people can stereotype, yes; blacks can be prejudice, yes. However, we cannot be racist because we don't (systematically) hold any power over white people.
Just to add, most black men who date outside their race do so because of self-hate.... I'm hoping that's not your case (mainly for the sake of your daughter).... Statistically , marriage between a BM and a WW doesn't last. You usually marry for the wrong reasons (fetish, hate for your comunity, desire to create a curly haired, light skinned child, etc.)... Research social issues, etc. of children who have a black father and white mother....The findings are quite disturbing.

You can believe what you want. I am not in an interracial relationship because I hate my race. It just happens that I felt in love with a woman that wasn’t black. If might be true that some interracial relationships or couples are into each other for a reason but not in my case. And if I ever break up with my partner it would have been the same reason even if she was black or white
