(5:00) As a Quickplay Andy Ana main, there's nothing better than a Genji actually letting you know they're about to blade. Hopefully, more players learn to spam their ultimate if they want Nano. However, when it does happen, it makes me feel like a mama bird watching my baby leave the nest, off to destroy the world.
Also something to consider is, that since Genji is inherently such a fun character that truly rewards every bit of effort you put into mastering him, it means Genji "mains" in general tend to be far more dedicated to their preferred hero, than most other players in the game objectively speaking. So it's only natural that when Genji is actually in a decent state, the quantity of players proficient with him can easily make it seem like Genji as a hero is much better than he is, which isn't reflective of reality, it's just the fact that all these devoted players are now actually allowed to play their hero without getting hero diffed by default at the baseline value level. When he isn't meta, he gets medium value on average, but when Genji is neutrally viable, you see these players come into their true right and really do some damage even though they aren't overall ranked higher than everybody else. They are just that more invested in this particular hero, than pretty much anybody else is to theirs. At least that's my hypothesis of his kit that fosters great devotion because he's just so fun and rewarding from a gameplay experience perspective.
Fr, when OW2 released I was so happy that I could do more than what I was used to. When CC got the nerf, and not too many ppl abused Sombra at the time, Genji felt great. He was the same hero, but with the hit to CC and 1 less tank to peel, it was refreshing being able to dive backlines and not have insta stuns that got u killed.I honestly feel like if they didn't nerf him, it would've been okay. Since ppl were not yet fully adjusted to playing with flankers who weren't afraid of CC anymore. He's not the best rn, but he's the most fun to me. Popping off on Genji, knowing full well the work I had to put in just to do something others can do easier, makes me feel good. He may be easily countered by certain characters, but when you pull off insane things and play better than ppl countering you, it just makes you feel high lmao.
It’s crazy how Genji himself has such rewarding gameplay, yet the surrounding game hardly rewards you for your skilled. So many of his counters are the easy no skill or brain required heroes. At least everything is watered down in OW2 so you can just force him and have fun. But I remember the dark OW1 days when I wanted the hero to just be pulled out of this game and put in another since it would be so damn frustrating with all the CC and imbalance.
At this point I watch you for you - your eloquence, your approach to thinking/talking about your experience, your editing. You are a top tier TH-cam, I look forward to watching you learn other games
@@RealRiders I for one prefer to have my team pick their favorites because naturally those are my our best picks and even if there is a "counter" of our heroes in the enemy team we know how to adjust against them because lets be honest ow2 is a lot less A destroy's B and a lot more if A is on board B should adjust.
@@RealRiders At the end of the day it's just a video game that groups a bunch of random people into a lobby to play together. Enjoy your journey even if it doesn't align with theirs.
I spent weeks trying to learn how to play Genji before deciding that even though he can be fun and good, he just takes so much effort to play. I just want to chill and have fun. Not force myself to get super sweaty and my fingers cramped up from both his high mechanical skill needed and the game sense required. Echo works somewhat similarly to Genji but feels way easier to play for me and I have a lot of fun on her now. Perhaps a 7 day Echo learning? I’d really like to see that one day.
Huh ppl really r different cause imo it didn't take me very long to learn genji I don't think he's harder than echo in fact I'd day echo is harder n widow is harder tracer to some extent is harder than him.
When you get good at genji you don’t sweat, getting 3k blades is really easy as long as you aren’t sweating, when I try hard I play a bit worse for somreason
11:38 sadly, that day won't come. Blizzard, and the community, is way more focused on just doing whatever the individual wants and not actually play it as a team game. And that counts for literally all the the ingame queues, yes, even ranked. The only way to get that experience, which most of us don't have time for, is to search for a team, and play in scrims and small tournaments. And seeing as Blizzard wants to control everything, you can't just join a random LAN-Party, and play the game because .. It's not allowed.
Great video man. Had the same feeling with genji and other close range characters, it feels like in the current meta with sniper maps, brawl comps with mei and unkillable supports it's tough to have a massive value on the character, so we can only hope that blizzard will nerf genji even more because of that 😂
Very nice! I just started playing Genji a couple of days ago and it feels actually difficult, but with this vid I've found some nice motivation a few useful tips. Cheers!
I need to clear something up, just because a character has an ability that Genji cant deflect that doesn't make them a Genji counter. Remember, all the other characters also can't deflect, you wouldn't say Moira counters McCree would you. Actual Genji counters are Sym, Torb, Doom, Junker Queen, Junkrat, Zarya Mei or Moira (if paired with another counter), Echo, and Bap just because of his immortality field. People also think Winston and Hog counter him, but they just end up being ult farms.
Watching these kinds videos when trying to learn a new character is super helpful. Like after I watched the video where you spent 10 hours learning wrecking ball my winrate went from 30% to 90%.
SVB! If you're trying to coordinate nano blade, type in chat at the beginning and say you'll use the 3,2,1 ping when you're gonna ult. Let them know they can nano at anytime during the 3 2 1. Then just ping that your ults ready and use the 3 2 1, makes a huuuge difference
It's pretty much a universal rule that when a Genji says "my ultimate is ready" it means he wants to combo in the upcoming fight. Ana players ignoring this are doing it deliberately (unless they're deaf). It happens so often that they just straight up refuse to nano the Genji, presumably out of spite? Or because they want to exclusively dictate who they give it to, regardless of the fight winning combo potential with blade. Idk, all I know is I've tried everything. I do the "ult ping", I do "3, 2, 1", I comm in voice chat... at the end of the day, many Ana players will just straight up ignore you no matter what and there's nothing you can do with a player who doesn't value teamplay synergy.
Absolutely agree. Have NEVER understood why pick ban isnt in comp. You are expected to be able to play multiple heroes because of how prominent swapping to counter is so the idea that your hero gets banned out is just stupid.
How do you only have 60k subs??? Your voice and energy combined with the content are all so great.. I thought I would look and you’d have 3 million easy! Keep it up and you will
thats a great idea with Valorant and Apex! because as a veteran OW player I also tried Apex but it was just too boring after OW because its a goddamn battle royal
I like to think of genji as a distraction for supports, they won’t heal their team if they are busy with you. You don’t even need to confirm a kill most times, just making them focus on you helps
my biggest tip for not getting roled? celebrate a single kill. ask "who are we pointing at" one kill, many times, can be a victory over the previous fight
As a genji main the most annoying thing is that if you kill like one person a the start of the game, then their whole team switches just to counter you.
I’ve been playing Genji for about a week, the only thing I absolutely struggle with is getting value with his blade, I’m on console so that makes a good difference, I either zone out or I don’t have dash
as a genji who swapped from ps4 to pc, it makes a huuuuuuuge difference. it took me like 2 days of adapting until my pc genji was better than my console one where i had played more than 2 years i was barely diamond on console, got to 3400 as soon as i played comp on pc and now in ow2 with rank inflation ofc im gm2 peak hovering around low gm
I’m hoping a Tracer one happens, I’ve learn how to pick up so many characters from this series, but I’m hoping to hone my skills a little more with my main
Used to be a Genji main during OW1, one of the inherent problems with Genji imo is that a DPS character shouldn't have a defensive ability like reflect (which more fits the tank role better) to begin with. Yes, I'm implying a Genji rework. The nerfs are just a side effect of his flashy plays but in reality either you stomp or just are completely useless. There's not much of an inbetween
I play genji because apart from the fact that it can be difficult you need to think and you can't go crazy for the enemies and each game is very different from the previous one
genji is only weak if ur bad. I'm silver 4 and I hit consistent 0 blade kills with about 20 deaths and 5 kills in endgame. I would say he's pretty strong since when I play widow I only get 1 kill and about 30 deaths. Would say I'm pretty good on genji
I'm a Genji main and one thing that's important to know is that just because your Genji and you have blade it doesn't mean nano belongs to you its your supports decision to give to the person who they believe will benefit from it for example it could be better that it be used to save your tanks life or because they know blade wont be overly good against the enemy team build stop acting like its yours
Genji is my favorite hero to play, but they over nerfed him and then added a bunch of counters to the game and it makes a super fun hero rather frustrating to play.

The face svb makes when he gets slept by ana's is priceless.
It screams "so this is how it feels on the other side."
It was actual perfection tho. Immediately the Ana sleeps him.😂
He singlehandedly makes me want to try new characters. Keep posting these!

Yep. SVB had me become a Doomfist main when I never wanted to play as tank

Hi SVB
JK lol
I love the perspective of playing heroes that make the game fun rather than singularly focusing on “optimal picks”. Really fun video
No. The game was designed this way for us players find the optimal team comps and win. Individualism kills the game.
Overwatch 1 literally died because it was too team comp based
