      Me too man. With the prices coming down on the Gen1s and the new trucks so expensive I think they are getting a resurgence of interest. People buying Gen1s and upgrading them for less than what a new Gen3 costs.

    Hey bro quick question. Do you know anyone that has been state reffed here in California with a modified truck with a mid travel kit and with engine mods? I’m curious because I want to modify my truck but I don’t want to get state reffed lol

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I don’t man. Once you do though, there is not much you can do. You must comply or register out of the state.
      If you keep the engine mod free or keep the mods to carb approved, you will be fine. Suspension modes don’t impact emmisions. But if you modify the gas tank, and change to a fuel cell, they could get you for that too. Just be smart about your engine and emissions mods and don’t be dumb around cops or have too loud of an exhaust and you will be fine

      @ I was curious because I saw the video that you made with the guy of HM midtravel kit and it seems like he had a pretty loud exhaust and he drove his truck on the road to get to the destination where y’all go test out the trucks.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah, most of the time those trucks will be trailered to the trails so the chances of them getting flagged is even less. Specially those big prerunner builds. They are also usually registered in Montana to avoid the extra hassle. We drove it to the trails because the truck needed a full test. Not just on dirt, but regular driving. But we also drove in a way to not attract any unwanted attention. Speed limit and not hammering the throttle

      @ Thank you for sharing the details brother, I’ll be going to HM Offroad because of the detailed video you put out. I was the guy that was upset the other day that SVC had moved out of Cali but I dug deeper with the other shops you had recommended and I’ll be going to HM for sure. I don’t want my truck breaking easily and I appreciate the extra effort they put in the reinforcement kit. I had seen that the 4wd will give problems with steering with more info I got out of your videos. Is there anything that can be done to help the reliability with 4wd?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Limiting travel or maybe upgrading to RCV axles. But you’re not completely avoiding issues with 4wd. It will eventually have problems your just increasing the “service” interval. I don’t use 4WD unless I absolutely have to.

      I think he’s running 37s. But I’ll have to confirm.

    Y spring over vs under I thought spring under was better ?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      There is benefits and drawbacks to each. If you want to carry more weight, over is better. Lighter weight and more focus on prerunner, under is better. Over is better for a rig that goes to more than just the desert and may see rocks. So it’s a more all around build. So it just depends. The key here is tuning. Tuning and making sure the suspension cycles correctly can make the most difference

    • @robp418
      @robp418 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Spring under gets you a better spring-rate with less axle wrap and potential for more up travel, as the arch is much greater in a spring under pack. They generally work better for pre-running but reduce the clearance for rocks quite a bit.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah exactly. And when combined with a 2 piece drive shaft will work much better than over. But it’s a give and take no matter where you go.
