I believe it was built by Ford in Europe and sold through Lincoln-Mercury dealers in the states. Opel built a competitive model at the same time called the Manta. That car was built in Germany and sold through Buick dealers in the states. Both were very cool imho😊

$3312 in October, 1973, is equivalent to approximately $22,922 today. Most probably also didn't have any power accessories or air conditioning, but that wasn't uncommon at the time.
I've been watching these old days of this show have noticed that there are almost no heavy people male or female young or old watch today's game shows????
I remember my 16-year-old self’s dream car back in 1978 was the 1977 Celica GT hatchback. Loved the body style. But what I ended up getting stuck with was a clunker 1973 AMC Hornet wagon.
There seemed to have been more winners in this pricing game during the Bob Barker era. Now with Drew Carey, almost nobody wins this pricing game and I do not know why.

The prices were too close together back then. An $11 difference is pretty brutal. They should have been $50 to $100 apart back then. These days, it's one for each range of thousands, so back when cars were a tenth of the price a similar range would have been ideal. Glad she won though.

My father used to have a '75 Lincoln in a similar yellow color. My siblings and I affectionately called it the Mustardmobile.

4:25 Kind of a remixed of "The Price Is Right" theme music.
I had a 73 capri for a couple years. That was in the 80s. It was a cool car. I believe it was really made by Opal.

Buick made the Opal GT. The Capri was Mercury’s baby!
She only won two price tags but still won.
She only needed one
Bob messing around with Tess about taking the car home was hilarious I miss these moments on the show
Same. It'll never be the same again

When Barker retired, they should have consigned the show to the history vaults. The current version is nothing short of terrible.
@@cats0182 Yeah like Drew Carey turned TPIR into a freak show with male models, George Gray, and crazy contestants mimicking Fannie Flagg.

But did you see Bob's hair? It's stiffer than the bumper on that car.😵🤣🤣
oh my my my such high high high hair on some of the women during that era.
Noticed this upload doesn't have the watermark in the corner like usual.
I believe it's that way for every 70s clip uploaded here. I prefer it that way too.
@silentbob3208 I suspected that. I think I've noticed it in the past and made the connection with '70s eps, too.
Linda is adorable. Did she appear on stage?
Tess is awesome... love The Tess, hate The Drake.
I went through 2 Mercurys in my lifetime. One of them, a 1996 Mercury Sable, lasted more than 15 years and 191,582 miles.
I've been watching these old days of this show have noticed that there are almost no heavy people male or female young or old watch today's game shows????
People had more self control back then
People have ballooned, in most cases the only people that where fat actually had a thyroid problem
They also had less chemicals and garbage in the food back then. It’s gotten worse
I wonder if anyone in Tess' family still owns this now 52-year-old car.
It's been turned into a Tesla
Very good
Rotted out long ago.

Early Bob Barker was the best.
OMG! That car sported both front and rear bumper guards AND an AM radio! What oppulance
I would love that car today in Jan 2025. It's also refreshing that he doesn't have to say "California emissions" in the early 1970s.
Inflation hit in the late 70's and early 80's to pay for the Vietnam war.
No, she didn't win all four price tags, she only won two. Congrats on winning the car, though!
Two picks of the FIVE price tags even. I like how they got it wrong in the title and description
Tess looks like Edith Prickley from SCTV
Congratulations
A nice win, only took one choice.

Joe Biden had nothing to do with the cost of vehicles going up.
