    Call me crazy but hes on the most important vocalist from metal, he has own time signature vocals

      It’s actually insane…. When you pick up on what he’s doing it’s fucking unbelievable

      Syncopated

      i wouldn't argue with that. he has to know pretty much every beat of their complex songs AND remember the lyrics which tend not to be straightforward or linear. i personally never thought i would get into music with this kind of vocal, but their unbelievable music won me over in the end.

    This and Demiurge. Hardest songs on the whole Album, a close third would be “The Demons Name is Surveillance”

      What about “Behind the Sun?”

    last time i was on a meshuggah gig, maybe 5years ago, there wouldnt be a chance for a camera to survive in the front 20-30rows.. the crowd was crashing like waves of an ocean

    They say that I Am Colossus where the most heavier song on the whole album, well, I have to disagree.

    • @Anomalocaria
      @Anomalocaria 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it kinda is tho. the ambient shit Thordendal does towards the end of the song when they start chugging again is nasty as fuck. same with the riff right before it, when they start crawling down the neck. this track grooves like a motherfucker, but i'm gonna have to go all in with Colossus lol

    • @johnmoore9588
      @johnmoore9588 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'd have to give heaviest track to Demiurge honestly. Those drops just get me every time.

    Don't get me wrong, He is my fav drummer of all time, and i've seen him live a few times, and yes he does make little mistakes here and there. He is not a machine he is human... at the Soundwave Festival in Sydney this year he even dropped a stick mid song.... but that doesn't make him any less awesome. I just wish people would stop pretending these guys are incapable of mistakes

    • @Isaac-eg3um
      @Isaac-eg3um 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well dropping the stick was obviously not a mistake

      harrisball False. He is a machine. The mistakes are preprogrammed so he appears human

    i didn't notice until i saw your comment, but you're right!!! i mean...how hard is it to headbang to meshuggah?
    (the answer is 'not very')

    • @Anomalocaria
      @Anomalocaria 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      only if you're not playing it lol. polymeters fuck your shit _all the way_ up, you'd almost always moving your hands and head in two separate rhythms, it's like trying the whole 'pat your head and rub your tummy' thing. it's distracting as hell and this music is unusually demanding to begin with.

    • @ChilisauLP
      @ChilisauLP 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Anomalocaria Not really. After a bit of practice playing those rhythms becomes an automatic thing and following the beat is second nature.

  • @3amsleep

    agree, but there's actually 3 notes on that chug from the depths of cocytus.

    • @drhexagonapus

      Yeah this is probably one of the easiest songs to headbang to by meshuggah. I know your comment is 9 years old I'm hoping you figured out how to find the backbeat in this awesome song.

    Remember, kids: If you practice hard and believe in yourself, you can drum like Tomas Haake too!
    ...Ha ha ha! Just kidding! You never will. You should probably give up now and become an actuary or something.
