    Awesome flight. It really demonstrates how easy it is to tune INAV in just 2 flights for fantastic acro performance!
    And although the XL is a fantastic cruiser, the AR Pro will give you more range nevertheless as it is faster at the same power consumption.

      iNav 4.0 is amazing, the plane was quite well trimmed to start with which was just luck I guess but 10 mins in the air with Autotrim and Autotune and it flies really well. I didnt even bother making anymore adjustments after Autotune although I may up the roll rates slightly.
      Never considered the speed/amps range aspect of the AR Pro over the Dart XLE maybe an LION AR Pro will help me reach my 25K target.

      It was like decent weather for one afternoon and now we are back to 25-35mph winds and rain again.
      I must say I am wholly impressed with how well the wing flew on the stock settings and I have only made very small changes to the PIDs after Autotune and upped my pitch &roll rates a little bit. That said it flew really well on completely stock settings. iNav 4.0 the best so far imo.

    Glenn, yet again there was delight on my face when I saw your upload pop up. Fantastic flying again. I'm interested in how you made the wing supports for the XL. It really does have a weak point there. Did you just literally mould them in while still warm? Cheers. Mick

      Hi Mick they are 0.5mm thick not 1.5 as I mistakenly said in the video. At this thickness they are very flexible so I used superglue and stuck the rough side down and held it firmly in the curve for a few minutes till my thumbs ached. I have snt you the STL via Facebook Messanger.

      @@bluefish3607 My toss is always bad when I do the side arm throw. From a psychological perspective, I think the overhand throw is less traumatic. If something goes wrong, by the time you get turned around the crash has probably already happened. With the the side arm throw, if something goes wrong, you get the trauma (in slow motion ) of watching it roll too far to one side and trying to get on the controls and think you are going to save it only to have it hit the ground and some some cartwheels LOL

    I have an FPV proposal. There is nothing more cool than landing FPV. It heightens the experience because things are happening, and the ground is coming up, and it is total immersive experience. Here is the proposal: FPV landing with PAPI lights that shoots the landing decent approach. PAPI lights would give you the proper glide descent angle. I have not yet seen any youtubers make a PAPI light FPV landing approach video. I just think that would be so neat.
    =====
    I personally have not flown rc in 20 years, but I am looking at the turbo timber with its flaps and slats and I want to do FPV touch and go.By the way, PAPI lights are not hard to make. It doesn’t even have to be a ‘light’ It can just be visible white and red paint that is half covered (ie the red is covered up at a certain visual angle and the white at another angle). PAPI lights.
    =====
    So, what do you think? Would you ever consider a PAPI light landing FPV video? Thx.

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thats an intersting idea and maybe its something I should consider as my landings can be pretty ropey. I got an FMS Super Cub last summer to practice learning to fly LOS and am really looking forward to getting it out again when the weather improves, I think it is similar to the Turbo Timber www.fmsmodel.com/product/fms-1700mm-67-piper-pa-18-super-cub-pnp/12/

    Fantastic flight. It's so satisfying to have such a great flight coming out of a frustrating spell. Half roll to inverted to an outside loop to a full roll on the way back down? Check.
    What top speeds are you seeing on the 2216? I just swapped my Master Airscrew 8x6 to the APC 8x6 you have and am wondering if I'll gain any top-end speed (haven't flown it yet).

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Jacob, I really enjoyed the flight although a bit rusty after so long but very enjoyable after the disappointing crash.
      Shame I had an issue with the Blackbox so i could not add the dashware OSD, trying to fix that for the next flight. I was getting around 90 mph or so flat out and level, but too be honest I had so much fun just messing around and enjoying flying that I did not do any sort of review of the new setup or monitor the speed very closely. I will do that on the next flight and see how it compares to the Brotherhobby 2318 1250KV and 9x5 prop. It definitely felt faster with better climb rate and more power in the banked turns.
      Can't wait to get out again and am watching the weather almost hourly :-)

      Here you go, I suggest you practice how you are going to mount it and hold it in place while the glue dries as it is quite springy. I used fast drying superglue and spread a few lines of glue across the rough side of the 3D printed plate then pressed it into place and held it tight with my thumbs until it had bonded. Now its solid.

    Some live feed would have been nice. That smoothed out HD doesn't tell the real story...🤔😳🇬🇧

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The raw footage is the same flight path and manouveres but just not as smooth as the wing gets buffeted by the wind.
      Any AR Pro is going to have some vibration in anything but very calm conditions, but I think the point is that the raw HD footage is not representive of what I am seeing in real time when flying the plane. What I see is pretty smooth and more like the stabilised footage than the raw HD footage.
      So in my opinion viewers get a better experience all round with the smoothed footage as it is more representitive of my real flying experience, and besides that is much more interesting than jittery footage and allows the viewer to appreciate the scenary and the flying itself.
      But of course if you are interested in seeing what the raw HD footage or DVR looks like I can happily upload some and send you the link, I am not trying to misrepresent anything I am totally open about using Reelsteady Go and explained this to every viewer that asks. I will in fact from now start adding that fact to the video description so there can be no future confusion as to why I do that in future.

      @@EnglishTurbines I usually show DVR when flying analogue, I take your point and will add some raw DVR into future videos. But anyone who gets into wings and flys FPV wont have the same experience as raw HD footage and thats what is most important in my view and should be with anyone who flys these types of craft. When flying in the goggles the experience is amazing especially when flying DJI and thats the best part for me personally, I am trying to show that experience in a realastic way.

    Explain to me why you land after autotrim and mechanically adjust to 1500 in inav. My understanding is inav points after this is normal to be at 1550 and 1450 more or less is normal due to torque roll.

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always like to have mechanical trim centred as close to 1500 as possible in inav to give me maximum and equal elevon resolution. It just feels much more balanced and also helps in manual mode. Just something I have done for quite a while, the result might just be pschological for all I know :-)
