- Kurche Youth Choir Christmas Song
I recorded this in the village of Kurche, in the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan, Sudan (between the capital city Khartoum, and Darfur).
These children sing songs all night on Christmas Eve in a vigil, as they march and dance for miles at the base of their mountain range. They are calling for people to repent and to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord.
My desire was to actually be there for Christmas eve to document this interesting phenomenon...it occurs among certain tribes in Sudan, but mostly in the Nuba Mountains tribes as I understand it.
This region experienced the genocide, like we're seeing in Darfur, for 20 years ..."villages"of 50,000 were leveled to the ground with not a building or hut left standing...many of the children were taken as slaves...these mountains and the caves they hold have been a refuge, used for centuries to hide from raiding Arab slave traders...
...then came the helicopter gun-ships from Iraq...
May God fill you with and love
كل سنه وانتم طيبين ربناء يحقيق امناينك بإسم الرب 🙏
Amen

yes, makaram please could you translate this song for me?
I my Nubian people in Nuba mountain
Proud , God is a wonderful God , he will not forsake his children .
Sudan is one of the largest countries in Africa and there are many different tribes the Nubian region is in the Northern part of Sudan and the Southern part of Eygpt many people believe than Nubians are a tribe of people that were Black Africans and mixed with the Arabs the people in this video is in the southern central part of Sudan
i hope your ignorant statement is not serious. you are right in on point, they are indigeous of south sudan, that is definitely true. as far as them being the true inheritors of the ancient nubian civilization that is definitely debatable, since many of the so called arabs in northern sudan and in parts of upper egypt still do speak nubian. which these people don't. can you explain that?
You must be from South Sudan?
Are you familiar with the Nyimang tribe that exists both in the Nuba Mountains and also in the North?
