The Wampler Belle at 18 volts sounded phenomenal with both guitars and in any different situation in this video. Killer tones for days! I don't see reviews where players try drives at 18 volts so it's awesome that you guys showed us the difference in sound. Great job as always!
So freaking true.. what’s funny is nowadays session guitarists are using old cheap japanese guitars from the 60s quite often because of how unique they sound.. guitars most average players would never touch. Everything has a unique sound that could work in certain scenarios.
I have the original Nobels and the mini version too and they are great pedals but when I got the Wampler Belle it’s like I found all the things I didn’t like from the others two resolved! Plus the Belle has a fantastic switch side button option that when it’s ON it gives a you a clear pristine wonderful punchy open tone and that’s an unique feature from the mini Belle!!!! Brian Wampler made a winner again!!!Super versatile,Killer!!!!
I think the Wampler one sounds the tightest since you can control the bass response. That might actually work best with my rig since my amps are never 100% clean, they're usually already clipping or cranked.
Not sure about pedals, but those socks definitely add to the tone :D But on more serious note, Brian is magician with how his pedals sound great with maxed gain :-O
Big factors: what clipping option was chosen for the Wampler? Also - bass was cut the whole time for the Wampler, that’s of course gonna make it for clear sounding. I like the Wampler
Great comparison, thanks! (The latest Nordland ODR - CS by Kai T. was also interesting for comparing the pedals shown. I use the Belle with 18V as a clean boost & light crunch pedal first, then 2 Duke of Tone MXR overdrives in boost setting with more and less Gain for max Dynamic sounds. This gives me all the sounds I want for Blues, Rock, Pop, Country, Hip Hop, Reggae, Gospel, Worship, etc, etc. For compressed sounds I use the Cali 76 Compact Deluxe.
I own the Belle and it’s not like a Tubescreamer at all?? don’t get people who think it’s some kind of ts? It’s ODR :) anyway, the Belle has this very nice focused sound about it, beautiful low end control, works great for different guitars! I use a telecaster, Strat and Les Paul! Belle works for all 3 guitars
@Neon Thunderbird I prefer the ODR because of its low-end! which is not found in the Tubescreamer!! I hate it when anyone says they sound the same :) I own both!! but putting them aside! I have recently got into FUZZ!!! :)
Wampler... The flexibility of this pedal to be able to tighten up the bottom-end as well as it's ability to deal with the compression side of the pedal.
Old ears that were fried a long time ago in a galaxy far far away here but the only thing to do is what "G" man said... all three for the win. Nice job as always gents!
Great video guys! Well put together review, and great to see people who know what the ODR-1 is best at. I've got a few ODR-1 based pedals and was happy to see you had the Belle in stock - now on the way to Australia!
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses hey Kris - glad I got you mate. Quick question from a vid on your channel - how do you find your Nick Nitro fuzz? You’re the only person I’ve ever seen use one! I love mine :)
Not sure if you had the side switch in the out position on the Belle. Makes it more bassy....I believe. With it in, you get more trebley, higher tones or something like that. Sounds like you had it pressed in.
Okay, I can live with that. But only because my jeans covered up Patrick's face on my socks (that's Patrick from Spongebob obviously, haha). //cheers, Kris
Definately The Nobels New, wasn't as gritty as the older version which wasn't bad either. Just smoother. The Wampler was cool but im my mind not worth spending the Extra money on for the Wampler name. Ugggh now thinking of getting the Nobels LOL A Comparison of the mini between the other 2 ODR-1's would be cool.
Just got a used ODR mini to dip my toe in the water, it's fantastic , if a little bassy. I just know if I get the bigger BC version it will cut too much bass. Belle seems to be the safe option!
I like the belle. I think it can do all the odr1 does and way more because of the tunning capabilities. I build pedals myself and built an odr1 take on pedal. I did something like what Brian did that allows me to have control over the bass. He implemented a bass pot while I have three different bypass caps on one of the gain stages that changes the bass response. I have the original value which is pretty bassy and two lower options that tightens the bass. That mod alone is a whole new world of tone options. Anyways. The odr1 is great but the belle is a big step up. My opinion.
I like the Wampler but noticed another comparison vid where they crank the bass eq to match the ODR 1 tone...Wampler EQs are so game changing..they usually don't have a bad sound anywhere.
So Nobels is the one the Belle tries to mimic, but the Nobels sounds better, and it's a lot cheaper :D Just buy a Nobels-ODR1 BC. I have one and F-ing love it.
I have both the new Nobels and the Belle. I don't like the spongy sound of the old one. I use them stacked and they are the best sounding overdrives to my ears. I play on a Supro coronado clone, a Marshall TSL 2000 and a Fender Princeton clone. These overdrives sound amazing on all of them. It's like having a professional producer come and dail in your tone for you. I like how the new Nobels comes with some suggested settings to get you started.
Hi guys firstly Guillome, that slide work was nice , perfectly understated Can’t afford all 3 but for me there’s something about the wampler It felt like it cut through just a bit more Did it? Chris guillome also wins today’s sock competition
I'll take that as a compliment, if that's ok. :D I love the guys, love their show and truely miss our hangs... Hopefully soon again. But I promise we won't start making 1 hour + long videos. Haha! //cheers, Kris
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses Kris! It's meant exactly as a compliment. Dare I say you guys are even better **coughs** players in some regards. And please feel free to do hour-long videos. We all love you guys!

The Belle compliments my Fat Larry, which is always on. Belle works s a boost for me. I can match the tone of the Fat Larry and kick it up with the Belle.
Haha! It's hard to see but the socks are shell pink, dude. I chose them to mess with Guillaume's head. He's the shell pink guy and I wanted to pay tribute to his beautiful shell pink strat. It would've been way funnier if he brought that strat to this video shoot. :) //cheers, Kris
I have one of the original ODR-1's and love it. It has more fidelity than any of my other pedals. I also have a Wampler Pinnacle (the 2nd issue wide one) and love it, but got frustrated when he made the newer one a few years back because he added things that I would have asked for. I am realizing that the more I listen, with good audio, that it is so subjective. None are bad. None are wrong. Thanks guys.

I would have loved to hear the Nobels ODR-mini as well, I love it on my board, but always nice to hear how the family compares.
Belle is soo much more flexible thanks to the clipping switch and the colour and bass control. I have both ODR-1 and Belle.
Which do you like better?
@@Joshuaalan21 Belle. Sold ODR. 👍
This vid feels cozy.
Great comparison. Thanks for fhec18v tip on the wampler. I have one coming tomorrow.

That's so true! Most pedals don't do the maxed out gain thing very well and Wampler pedals are an exception.

Was the gain structure switch in or out on the Belle?
That's what I was wondering!
If they want it to sound the most like the original, it would be out.
Since I already own an ODR-1 BC, let me ask something else.
What barstool are these you are sitting on?

They all sounded great.. Wampler is made in USA, Nobel in China.. I pick USA made.
Wait, is that a sketch pen cap for a slide? GENIUS.
And the new one on 18v ?🤔
yes
the new nobels should be called the "no-balls" - they have a lot of nerve calling it an ODR-1. the wampler in 18w mode is far closer.
