  • While likely partially restored sometime back, this 1947 Packard Super Clipper for sale near Detroit is holding up really nicely. It started up easy and ran well, the engine sounded good. The clutch shuttered a little bit going into first but engages in shifts fine. The underbody is very salad with no heavy router to keep seen. Nothing was used to cover up the floor pans or frame rails which are all very stout with some cosmetic surface rust. The interior was re-done in a nice. Mohair similar material. The dash components are mostly original as well as some of the other internal hardware. The car smells good and it looks nice from a very short distance with no major flaws to be discussed.

Nice art-deco touches. I like the brown and tan tones of the interior. Very inviting and comfortable look. By the way, AM radio is still alive and well. I particularly listen to the all-news channels often.

    Beautiful!
It's no wonder that, "The richest man in town drives a Packard".

Hadn't heard that one yet, only 'Ask The Man Who Owns One'. I'll have to look it up. Thanks for the heads-up!
      Edit: nothing on Google search.

Fabulous automobile. I owned a 1947 7 passenger formal sedan for a number of years. Blue serge interior

Beautiful car....looks highly original....but Packard didn't offer Power Brakes in 1947...and the red pedal cover should be on the clutch ....and signifies the car has the electromatic clutch, Packard's semi-automatic transmission. There's a button on the dash ...marked "Electromatic"...that activates the mechanism.

Packard has been out of business longer than it ever was in business. Unbelievably the rest of American cars are going the same way. Collect them while you can lol.

A stunning beauty. Needs a cormorant. Those GM spec tires don't help it any. Please remove your foot from the clutch upon engagement.

You should never ever ride the clutch. That destroys the throw-out bearing.

Looks like a broken or very worn motor or transmission mount by the way that gearshift bounces around!

The fool should be using overdrive at the speeds he's driving.
This car is a Custom Super Clipper which was the only Packard to have
fore-and-aft headliner, chrome steering column and emergency brake handle
and courtesy lights back of the front seat.

A lovely motor but far from original, chrome done, painted etc.

great car until you need parts or a mechanic. Most mechanics won't touch a car from the 80's let alone the 40's.

These cars are very simple to work on....

A mechanic would prefer to work on an old car..... I'll work on those all day...

You are supposed to work on it yourself.
