The Labrador Retriever, often abbreviated to Labrador, is a breed of retriever dog that was developed from imported Canadian fishing dogs. Labs descend from the Newfoundland Dog and the St. John’s Water Dog in Newfoundland, Canada. The Labrador Retriever was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1917 and thereafter rose slowly but steadily in popularity due to its incredible versatility, obedience, and rugged good looks. It is now considered the world’s most popular breed.

We LOOOOVE our ‘must love labs’ lab. I grew up w/ labs, owned many myself - no joke: this is the single best specimen of a lab I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen much difference until I bought a lab from these incredible people. I just wish I had room for 10 more. I’d get them all here!

I buy a large box of large potty pads from Costco for whelping day. That way we can just continually change them out as they get messy to try to keep things as clean as possible. Doing this helps us not have to move or disrupt everything to change the big whelping pad multiple times during the process.

Thank you for your channel. We just started watching your channel.
Can you recommend a book to keep records for breeding?
Can you also recommend what we need for a whelping kit?

We use the Bad A.. Breeder curriculum and records…I haven’t used anything else, but there is a wealth of record keeping printables etc. you might find useful.
Thanks for another great video! Super info!

    Hello,
Me and my husband are looking into breeding labs in our areas and we have a few questions.
Out of every litter, how often do you need to bring a puppy or your dog to the vet after she has her puppies?
And in the long run, is it worth breathing labs moneywise ?
And what should we do to prevent having issues with our mother dog having puppies and what should we do to prevent unhealthy puppies before born?

What do you do about hair loss after birth? Puppies are 4 weeks old and mama is losing lots of hair.

Some of that is normal. It’s because she just gave all her calcium to her puppies. She needs to be on a calcium supplement the entire time she’s nursing. Here’s a link to the one we use: amzn.to/3OQ8xon
