This was amazing! I watched the whole video all the way through! In view of the idea that the men's 400 meter track (running) world best times are around 44 seconds, and that 500 meters is about 25 percent farther than that, we can make an interesting comparison. By adding one fourth of 44 seconds onto that time to get 44 + 11 = 55 seconds, we can see that the men running 400 meters and the women cycling 500 meters are going at different average speeds. In other words, if the men were running 500 meters at the same rate they can run 400 meters, they would be finishing in about 55 seconds. Of course I think the women take a bit longer to initially accelerate. In fact, I think these women were cycling about 40 percent faster than the fastest men run 400 meters.
That was a very long winded way of saying that female track cyclists go quicker than male sprinters. Bolt has ran at 27.8mph...Vogel rode at 43.08mph to get her 200m record. So in fact her top speed is over 50% faster.
Research Tillie Anderson half a mile in 55 secs. This prorates to 34.203 for 500m approx. At sea level on an old iron bike no aero clothes would have been faster at the shorter distance. That woman was fast. Look at the sketch of her leg. Tillie for ever. Learn about her and respect her. Passed away circa 1962 or 1965.
Well, maybe Ligtlee would've done better if she were on a different bike. That Koga is an old machine, not nearly as aerodynamic as the newer Looks, FESs, BTs and whatnot.
The choice for the gear ratio is free and personal, normally in this event that require fast acceleration they choose a gear that balances high top speed and fast acceleration around 80 - 85 inches
Gloves, floppy helmet straps and a few inches of fork steerer column that could have been chopped off - that would likely have been the winning margin for Shmeleva. I'm looking forward to the day that women get equality to the men and ride the kilometer TT.
Their first kick off face tells everything 😯
I pulled a muscle just watching.
Their thighs are huge!
😃😃😃😃😃😃

It is really interesting to watch women competition, emotions and great performance!
🇩🇪🇩🇪Wow war das spannend 👏🏼 tolle Leistungen aus Deutschland und Niederlande. Schöne Grüße an die Nachbarn 🇳🇱
Incredible riding from everyone

not quite. she had longer to build up speed, and would've been at a higher speed when finishing
Can't describe the feeling of watching all these amazing beautiful ladies, knowing they all definitely have stronger legs than me.
@Katy Marchant - Really??? The BEIGE bit is the track you want, the BLUE bit isn't!!! Jeezus!

She is fascinated faster 👍✌👁👁
These girls are remarkably on point with their sock game!
Do all the bikes have same speed? Sorry if it's a stupid question 😅

@@fabiogulmini4664 80-85 is nothing for track sprinters.
What is that ratio? :O
Gear ratio for most of them is probably 56 X 14
@@vanwilder1101 if I had that ratio on my fixed gear bike, my knees would say Fyou and went home while me being on the pavement crying :D

why aren't their no brakes in those cycles :O
It's forbidden brakes on track bikes. Those bicycles are essencially fixies, they "break" back pedaling.
Because you don't need it.. lol
@@vanwilder1101 I understood now how these cycle works
Commentator is boring and irritating.
3ms between the 3rd and the 4th is a nonreproducible bullshit difference.
