I was heartbroken to hear of the recent passing of Sinéad O'Connor earlier this month. I've been a fan of Sinéad's work since I first saw her perform Mandinka in 1987. I was blown away by her debut album THE LION AND THE COBRA and I admired the way she spoke out for people who didn't have a voice and were unable to speak up about injustice. I hope you enjoy listening to this interview, recorded for Gaydio in 2014 when I was a presenter for the radio station.
Thank you for publishing as I'm still in denial that the gifted woman who sang with her heart, soul and entire being. 💔🙏🏻🤲is gone to God. RIP We love you
Thank you for posting. I'm gutted by the news and I'm so sad that I was so unaware of her constant up hill battle. TRAUMA is a killer and extremely difficult to recover from. Rest in Power our dear Sinead. 💔😥🙏
I don’t have a child and I’m male but I couldn’t even begin to imagine the debilitating sadness a mother even one as strong as they come like Sinead was feeling Rest In Power Lioness❤
Isn’t ghastly gah gah Helliweird satanick masonick, demonick, entertainment industry created, gender inverted male deceiver sellout, allegedly? What on earth would he allegedly have in common with sinead, allegedly?
Lady Gaga seems to be a lovely, interesting person, she has an incredible visual side to her art and the most boring, generic pop songs. I knew her visuals and when I heard her music I couldn't believe how uninspiring and factory-produced her music is. She is nothing like Sinead, who rejected the visuals side and produced incredible music over the years.
Thank you for posting this. You had a respect and appreciation for her body of work and it was so nice to hear her receiving questions that acknowledged her vast recording and performance career.
Thank you. I seem to remember on the day how relaxed she was. I was self-conscious that maybe she didn't enjoy my company, but on reflection after revisiting this chat I think she was comfortable.
I'm still sore on learning of Sinead's Passing. Thankyou Phil Marriott for Your Sharing Such A Passionate & A Great Line Up Of World Renowned. Song Writer's & Musicians Interviews. Thank you so much. I appreciate your feedback. Listening back to my interview now I am sad that I was rushing through it. I only had 13 minutes to chat and I was aware of this. So many questions...not enough time.
Very Very sad i loved sinead her beauty & voice were phenomenal i will surely miss her, been a fan since the 1980' the way she shunned for speaking the truth, shame on the Americans,so not fair,RIP sinead with your beloved son shane my heart is broken 💔 😢 xxxx
I've been listening to her music a lot since her passing, but then I've always listened to her music like you have. It's comforting to have her music now.
I was SO glad to hear that, like me, she felt that Amy Winehouse was one of kind. And that's who comes to mind when i heard of SINEAD'S falling asleep. As a singer-songwriter myself, i believe in DELIVERY BEING EVERYTHING. You CANNOT deliver what you know NOTHING about, and therefore, do not FEEL. I've lost a SISTER and fellow artist. But i was the one that picked up my guitar, and walked away from fame, and in so doing, frustrated some huge names . I saw first-hand what fame does. The price was too high. SINEAD O'CONNOR SPOKE TRUTH TO THE MOST POWERFUL MAN ON THE PLANET... David vs Goliath. And THAT was the LOUDEST SONG SINEAD DID yell. "FIGHT THE REAL ENEMY!" 💔☘🥀🕯🕶🎶

Sinead is a diamond, a nugget, she's definitely not from our dirty planet! She is clean, honest, and has never buckled under anyone! Ireland, you didn't save her! You didn't give her a helping hand, but only oppressed her as a person! She has glorified your country! although you are a very small country. Sinead, she put her soul into every song, and when she performed, she lived it. Each of her songs is a MASTERPIECE!!! SHE has no equal! 💔💔💔🙏🙏🙏
So sad that Sinead HAD to be a WARRIOR 24/7 for her own Safety, to the extent that she says she couldnt feel safe dressed in a conventionally feminine way in the music industry, and the men who preyed upon her in her private/medical life. No wonder she felt safer with gay men.
What are you talking about? Have you got any proof or inside information about Sinead’s cause of death? Because neither the family nor the authorities have disclosed that information as of when I’m writing this 14 October 2023. We’d all really like to know, so please expand on how you know Sinéad died by suicide.

Absolutely.
She was just amazing all the way around! A special human being, truer than most!
Agreed. She was a genuinely honest soul.
Sinéad O'Connor and Lady Gaga
Definitely. I think Sinéad could see the punk spirit in Gaga.
I could have seen Gaga and O’Connor having done something together and it would’ve been amazing 🎉🎉🎉
My two favourite female singers. Extraordinary talent

Sinead is amazing love to hear her talk about Gaga and Amy wow and Lou Reed
Absolutely! She had so much respect for others in the industry.

Fantastic, great insight to her musical talents.
Without the headline grabbing stupid questions that interviews seem obligated to ask.

Her writing was incredible. Such poetry.
@@BoysOnFilm It was.
I can't get her and her music out of my mind. I think she would of made an excellent actress as well.
She had a part in the butcher boy
She was in the film hush a bye baby
She did act although not many people realise. It was overlooked, sadly.

What a woman!
Her speaking voice really became deep and a bit rough. don't smoke, kids.
Also menopause likely! Ah well - she still sounds good here
And singing her lungs out 💞
It’s too late (deep voice)
So what
@@joliepollman in contrast to the lovely light voice she had in her younger years. not everyone's voice deepens like this. there is usually a reason
The Empress Siena’s, self-proclaimed wise woman, killed herself and her son killed himself- the Empress of Superior Understanding had no clothes.

Wrong. Sinéad died from natural causes.
She was so confident in her sexuality- reallY? Her son killed himself under her wise sexual guidance, and she killed herself. What a wise woman!
Stop judging. Did you know her?
Please, tell us how you know Sinéad died by suicide.
Very confused, absurdly self-assured, self-tormented human being who loved blaming society for her own confusion.
Because society is perfect, right?
You obviously haven’t listened to much of what Sinéad has said over the years. She constantly stated that she had very little self-confidence.
