One more thing--Tool does a lot of "interlude" tracks. To cleanse the pallet before the next song? "Useful Idiot" isn't worth your time posting for a reaction on its own unless tied with "Forty Six & 2," which was a monster hit and rare radio single. Same for these others, in case you're not there yet, here's a typical pairing for the rest of the way. (*Interludes): Useful Idiot* Forty Six & 2 Message to Harry Manback* Hooker with a Penis Intermission* Jimmy Die Eier Von Satan* Pushit Cesaro Summability* Aenema (-) Ions* [A very long, but connected setup to Third Eye] Third Eye
Very nice reaction #2 JohnHoover. 😄 I don't have a "don't like" Tool category, but I'm sure the number of downloads/views for H. are lower than most. Don't really disagree with your crits. H. is more listenable when digging into the lyrics. It's kind of "Can I be a rock star and a Dad? What does that mean? And as a "lyrics-last" guy myself I get an idea of where you're coming from. Still very listenable to me though. Q: Did you do the Undertow LP? Did I miss it?
I also don't notice the lyrics during my first listen through, especially in a song with the vocals mixed in line, or below the other instruments (ironic considering im a vocalist first). I'll look into the lyrics, that sounds really interesting. I accidentally skipped undertow, but I'll go back to it. Especially because my favorite song, also the first Tool reaction I did, is on that album.
One of my favorites
Still awaiting the rest of Ænima...
Listen to Descending by Tool. Absolutely my favorite of their's.
