they would have been huge, with a great power pop album produced by Mark Ronson, but for unknown reason, broke up after touring to support this album. I was fortunate enough to see them play a small club (actually the foyer/bar of a restaurant ); one of the best shows I've ever seen! There's a poorly lit, but excellent sounding clip from this show on my channel.
fiendish was right. also important to note is that, other than z-berg (lead), the band was not involved in recording the album. the album was instrumentally-recorded essentially by its producers (Mark Ronson and, I think, Alex Greenwood). this makes me suspect that the people here didn't actually have their hearts invested in the music, but were willing to play the part for a little while.
From what I remember all band members have parents in the music industry so they have wanted to “make” one album and tour and be done. I remember seeing them open for Tori Amos they were more well received than the Dity Bops. I did enjoy their set though and picked up their cd.
@@b.pineapple2252 That's not quite accurate. The bass and organ on the record are Alex Greenwald and Victor Axelrod, but Z Berg both played guitar and sang, and Tennessee Thomas played the drums. So ultimately there were two members of the live band that had played on the record, and two that had not.
@@distanttwinkle3508 The three original members were the ones with industry parents. However, those three made an album (and several EPs) before this one. The original bassist left the band before the shift in musical direction that produced the mod-revival sound and style of Release Me. So it's not exactly correct to say that the goal of the band was to be a one-and-done, because they did more than that!
There is both art and beauty in this performance. (especially first song). They got the clothes just right. They got their positions in the video just right. Their expressions fit perfectly. If I were stone cold deaf, I'd still be watching this video for its beauty and creativity.
Are we not gonna talk about how cool their clothes are? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love The Like for their music but their fashion sense is amazing.
It's amazing that only four girls, two only clapping, one only singing, and two playing instruments, can create such a high level of musical entertainment. I believe it's the violin that keeps me coming back to this video. She is playing an exact replica of the 60's hit string accompaniment. Being just one violin, the placement of those licks in the song is more real and hauntingly beautiful. For learning those licks, this is the perfect video for that as well.
I was watching Scott Pilgrim and decided to look up the drummer who was in Clash at Demonhead and stumbled upon this band. I'm in love with this band now.
Of all the covers I listened to. You're cover was by far the best and respectful to the original. I even created a channel just to tell you that you guys are awesome! best of luck ladies.
They're all adorable! This song makes me think of when my mom use to play the Dirty Dancing tapes all the time when I was young. Ah, such sweet memories! Thanks, The Like!
Will just a few instruments, two other girls claping hands, proves that these girls have real talent! The violin player does the original version - " Will You Still Love Me Tommarow." Excellent!
He's not a boy that you can change, nor should you want to He's not a boy that you can tame, don't let it taunt you Don't even try to to run away, he wouldn't stop you He's not a boy that you can chain, I know you want to And you can wait all night You can wait all day but He's not a boy that you can change We were up all night, talking trash and wasting time When he says you're beautiful, it's not a line But in the morning you might find that He might have changed his mind He can only fall in love for just one night He's not a boy that you can change, nor should you want to He's not a boy that you can tame, don't let it taunt you Don't even try to to run away, he wouldn't stop you He's not a boy that you can chain, I know you want to And you can wait all night You can wait all day but He's not a boy that you can change Even when he lies he means every word he says His delusions find their way inside your head And he knows that beauty lies But he likes it by his side Just to take it for a ride until the mystery dies You may say "why, don't you realize I could give you everything?" But, you see he can't be tied Contained, or satisfied by all You could bring He's not a boy that you can change, nor should you want to He's not a boy that you can tame, don't let it taunt you Don't even try to to run away, he wouldn't stop you He's not a boy that you can tame, I know you want to And you can wait all night You can wait all day but He's not a boy that you can change He's not a boy that you can save He's not a boy that you can change
These girls are very talented! Singing the Sherilles version -" Will You Still Love Me Tommarow"" is a wonderful classic! I hope they do more caz they do songs so close to the original sounds. I hope they come to America to share their talents with us! Edmondo ( etsonggalaxy)
If I close my eyes (or turn off the monitor) and just listen, I can picture a strange scenario: Phil Spector, having received the words and music from Gerry Goffin and Carole King, goes home to think about it. He turns on his shortwave radio, and in a strange dual paradox (ala "Frequency") hears this version. He thinks: Hmm, if I overdub the violin to sound like 5, add a real drummer (Hal Blaine?), have Shirley Owens sing lead with 3 back-ups, etc. I think I'll have a hit. Thus, while being inspired by the Shirelles, The Like WAS the inspiration FOR the Shirelles! This performance, and this group, is THAT GOOD. Bravo!
This song could have worked with the guitar and the vocals...but that violin just gives it that Umph You produce a lovely sound from it and it really adds to the song
Tonight you're mine completely You give your love so sweetly Tonight the light of love is in your eyes But will you love me tomorrow? Is this a lasting treasure Or just a moment's pleasure? Can I believe the magic of your sighs? Will you still love me tomorrow? Tonight with words unspoken You say that I'm the only one But will my heart be broken When the night meets the morning sun? I'd like to know that your love Is love I can be sure of So tell me now, and I won't ask again Will you still love me tomorrow? So tell me now, and I won't ask again Will you still love me tomorrow? Will you still love me tomorrow
@Vanamare Have you ever tried clapping your hands for a long period of time? Its very frustrating! Its one of the things I secretly hated to do for 2 long. Try it, it gets highly annoying.
今見ても、最強にかっこいい!
i still love them😍
How the hell did this band not make it big?

Wow, this may be the best cover of this song I've heard, very well done. Great vocals and she nailed all of the violin parts. Beautiful version.

violin solo is heavenly.... :)
This is the best thing anyone's ever done. :') The violin tops it!
Really nice cover! Thanks!
Jesus, that voice!
My daughter loved them. I haven't listened to them in years. Definitely one of the best covers I've ever heard, and just a candid backstage recording.
Are we not gonna talk about how cool their clothes are? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love The Like for their music but their fashion sense is amazing.
Yeah, I've always had a soft spot for girls in stockings

I never heard of these ladies before today and now I'm obsessed. They're amazing! A band with actual talent that doesn't have to be auto-tuned!
I was watching Scott Pilgrim and decided to look up the drummer who was in Clash at Demonhead and stumbled upon this band.
I'm in love with this band now.
The violin solo was perfect! You go girl! :)
Incredible.
This video always makes me happy... i've been listening to it this whole year. WOAAAAAAAH
I cant stop coming back and listening to this. is one of the best things I've ever heard. just hits all the right buttons.
Apparently 4 people who've seen this video are Soulja Boy fans and don't appreciate good music.
That said, this cover is awesome.
Singer: z berg, violinist: Laena Geronimo, clappers: Tennesee Thomas and Annie Monroe
Annie Monroe, née Zuckerman. I coached her on her high school soccer team, almost didn’t recognize her in this video.
My Ex and I did this because of this vid. I played guitar she sang and played the Violin. IMO we killed it. I wish I recorded it better.
Oh my god I love her violin.
Great :) I love this group I want to hear them more with violin and something like this with passion :) very beautiful
2023 I still watch it ❤
Just stumbled on this, absolutely fantastic.
So beautiful it moved me to tears. Good ones.
It just SOARS !
She sings with passion.

fantastic version on this great song

What a lovely performance.
He's not a boy that you can change, nor should you want to
He's not a boy that you can tame, don't let it taunt you
Don't even try to to run away, he wouldn't stop you
He's not a boy that you can chain, I know you want to
And you can wait all night
You can wait all day but
He's not a boy that you can change
We were up all night, talking trash and wasting time
When he says you're beautiful, it's not a line
But in the morning you might find that
He might have changed his mind
He can only fall in love for just one night
He's not a boy that you can change, nor should you want to
He's not a boy that you can tame, don't let it taunt you
Don't even try to to run away, he wouldn't stop you
He's not a boy that you can chain, I know you want to
And you can wait all night
You can wait all day but
He's not a boy that you can change
Even when he lies he means every word he says
His delusions find their way inside your head
And he knows that beauty lies
But he likes it by his side
Just to take it for a ride until the mystery dies
You may say "why, don't you realize
I could give you everything?"
But, you see he can't be tied
Contained, or satisfied by all
You could bring
He's not a boy that you can change, nor should you want to
He's not a boy that you can tame, don't let it taunt you
Don't even try to to run away, he wouldn't stop you
He's not a boy that you can tame, I know you want to
And you can wait all night
You can wait all day but
He's not a boy that you can change
He's not a boy that you can save
He's not a boy that you can change
I want them come back forever.
