I was lucky to have seen the Ramones twice.
Nice to see the lesson today on how and what I remember Johnny playing. Live it was fast…and loud.

I was able to see them twice too! They always seemed to play the songs twice as fast live. Crazy.

Are you Bass, Guitar, Drums or Vocals?
I play Pinhead on guitar and on bass I can do vocals now with bass but with guitar its a tough go,I go squirrely and can’t keep it together.

Can you please do East Bay Ray from the Dead Kennedys? He’s a great guitarist and I’m just starting guitar and want to play like him

FYI- the B chord in the chorus section, Johnny played it the B barre chord that has its root on the A string. It's not as economical in terms of movement, but I guess Johnny liked how it sounded or something. also another nuance is that for those A string barre chords, Johnny did have his pinky holding down the E string above the root note and strum that as well a lot of the time, giving it the heavier sound that we all like. This might be why he favored using the A string B chord in this song Check any live video, I speak facts. Great tutorial.

Wasn't there a you tube guy who said Johnny, for some quirky reason, always skipped playing a chord on the second beat? OH, I FOUND HIM th-cam.com/video/rQh_fAX3J24/w-d-xo.html

      I know what you’re referring to. A stutter, a skip, a rest?
Maybe a timing thing? I have a tough time keeping track of where I’m at, I’m ok with album speed and the faster live speed but when I’m ripping fast, faster, fastest I need something like your mentioning to not get lost, sort of a time keeper for me.
      But that’s me, I think there’s a lot to Johnny’s playing.
Hell, for years and still today many people thought / think Johnny used power chords, or alternate picking…yikes😳

Yep! He does do that on some some songs. Like Commando, you can really hear it. There's a skip on the second beat of each chord change.
