You can talk to everyone because you are kind. But your true friends are those whom you can be yourself. 💖💖

"God put people in my life as a blessing and for me to be a blessing. Life is not what you get it's what you give." I love this quote so much I put it on my sink as a reminder. When it gets hard with friendships or people in life, remember this. Offer up the pain that you receive by their egotism or selfishness as a prayer and ask Jesus to help you love them. This does not mean to hang around toxic and abusive people or to let yourself be abused/bullied by people, it might mean we just need to remember them in our prayers. These people were in our lives to be a lesson. Like that, it is good to know your friends, the ones you can be vulnerable with. The best friend of them all is JC...

This is just an amazing insight into friendship. The Bible says in Sirach 37:12 "But associate with a godly person whom you know to be a keeper of the commandments, who is like minded with yourself, and who will grieve with you if you fall." Amen. God bless you Taylor for shedding light on this topic.

Mother angelica mentioned that it really isnt about making friends but to be a friend. Obvioualy it doesn't mean taken advantage of but no to feel like you are alone just because you dont make friends. Because the whole point of mercy and salvation is for everyone and anyone to receive it. And those friends can come and go. But it doesnt matter. Because as along as we kept our focuse on God, it doesnt matter who we bump into. And if we know where we stand. We shouldnt be afraid to know how to act.

I feel you on that. The majority of my friends were protestant back in the high school years. Now it's gotten worse and the friends I find myself making who live near me and share my interests are straight-up pagans who worship Norse and Greek gods. It's always tricky finding the balance of remaining yourself and confident in expressing your own faith, and also not rubbing it in their faces in such a way that it would turn them off on the Catholic faith altogether.

Alfred david it’s impossible to be friends with Protestants. They can’t accept you for who you are, respect you and be okay with that. They will always be trying to get you to convert, or they will give you that calculated shaming look - poor person, so nice, so much potential, but chooses to be Catholic.... The best you can do about them is reserved politeness. Do not ever lower you guard around Protestants.

I also resonate with you on this. Especially now that I am seeking to find a spouse. Many of my good female friends are strong protestants (who I feel a relationship with them won't work because of the difference in faith) and the Catholic girls I know simply aren't interested in me. It's a sad position, I am still trusting in God.

I honestly accept that we have a tendency to isolate ourself from others because of the bitter things which we have experienced in our life, because of toxic people and fake friends. But we must be well motivation and high spirited to continue on our destined journey. Find good friends, cause they add colour to our life, and their are certainly many good ones out in the world. Whatever be your destination, let happiness be your direction! God bless you!

You are always welcome sister, and I am truly sorry to hear your plea. However, the US is not highly Catholic or Christian either in many ways. We talk a great game but do not DO as we are commanded. So much emphasis on works of mercy that is devoid of spiritual works.
I almost married an Italian in Australia a couple of years ago and sadly found that to be the downfall for me with her. I hope you have someone and/or a group of great God loving friends to walk with and if not I pray the Lord raises Him and/or them up for you! Stay strong, the Lord loves you and desires to be with you always. In Christ, Andrew

Just found out a couple weeks ago that my “best friend” was a total jackass and basically just using everyone. Tried to call him on it how many times, he kept on faking changing, but at this point he just ruined my life by sucking my entire life source out of me to energize him, making me fail in everything else awile .
Basically his pressure made my grades slip, and that put pressure on my romantic relationship, and we got too physical and broke up, then while I was mourning and trying to get my life back together he made it even more about himself, then I got really sick for a few weeks and he didn’t even visit me in the hospital.
After that I talked to some friends and heard about all of the lying and deceit and then he ditched me when I was no more use to him. He decided to hang out with my ex more because she’s too nice. And all of my other friends left me as well, because the entire friend group was manipulated by him and he made himself the center. So after his deceit was found out the friend group blew up. Now I’m struggling trying to not fall back in love with my ex, her along with me, because she’s basically my only friend at this point, and I don’t even have my so called “friend” to talk to about it.
Now he is going to go to a different collage next year to probably do the same thing. Apparently there’s too much “drama” here and the people aren’t “straight” enough.

Hey darling, I've been there too, first of all I don't know if you are actually the bad one, but I'll take you at your at word. If you truly feel like you are consistently the bad one it is often a result of bad habits which cause bitterness of personality, so I would try to
      1. take up new hobbies to try to reorient yourself into a more interesting and fun person to be around maybe start daily exercise and stretching, learn to play an instrument, learn Jiu-Jitsu and/or kickboxing, start photography, learn wood working, learn to cook new things, gardening, knitting, et cetera. Basically fill your spare time with wholesome activities you like talking about to prevent negative conversation from coming up
      2. Talk less about yourself so you never feel a need to bring up the injustices of your life, plus people love talking about themselves so listening to people is very beneficial in relationships
      Godspeed in your endeavors Ma'am

I've never had any of those deep friendships that you talked about, and I seem to always be bouncing between being too open "heart on my sleeve" and too reclusive/closed off. It is probably worth saying to not assume that any and everyone in the church is automatically a healthy person to embrace friendship with.
In my lifetime, some of the most consistently toxic people whom I’ve met have been in the church, unfortunately. At one point in my life, I hit a breaking point, and all but abandoned the faith for a half-decade of my life.

If your mother is toxic I'm very sorry for you.
Stand in the truth, let yourself know if she isn't trustworthy and then ask God to help you forgive her and accept her as she is. Pray for her. Treat her as well as you can. But know that you have permission to guard your heart.
She doesn't need to know that you are guarding your heart. Only YOU need to know.
You have a heavenly mother, Mary who you CAN TRUST. Get close to Mother Mary, say the rosary and seek God with your whole heart.
If your human mom is toxic you can't force her to be decent.
For some people it's a cross to carry.
Hopefully you will find another family member to have a healthy relationship with. Or at least a human mentor who is following Christ and isn't toxic.
Bless you. Just work on growing in your own holiness and seek the Lord.
He will be with you ALWAYS.

Harmony Gordon Thank you! It’s a difficult situation. My mother has been fighting cancer for almost 8 years now. This makes things so much more complicated. God has blessed me with a wife who loves and supports me, and whom I love, and a sweet beautiful intelligent daughter, and sometimes it seems like my mother can’t accept that I have my own life, family and need to move on with my life. This has been going on since I was a child. I have always stood by her, especially in the first years of her fight with cancer, I still lived with her and my whole life was taking care of her. I do not say this expecting a reward because it was just the right thing to do. I didn’t have a wife, a baby, didn’t have my own house. We now live across the street from her and still she tries to shame me, calls me bad names, says thing about me and my wife to the rest of her family that are not true. She uses our baby to try and manipulate us emotionally. Especiallly now with this pandemic she doesn’t seem to understand that we can’t take a baby to her house every day. Ever since I was a little kid I felt that my mother always tried to shame me instead of understand me. Whenever I don’t do exactly as she wants, she goes on about how horrible a son I am. I try my best to help her and satisfy her needs but I can’t give her everything she wants, how and when she wants. I can’t stand no longer the weight of being seen as a horrible son by the rest of the family even though I am sincerely just trying to do what I am supposed to do in the most honest way. I have a lot of responsibilities now and my family can’t understand that I have a family, a baby, a wife, I am not a child anymore. I didn’t want to part and fight with anyone but I am not willing to be shamed and judged like that any longer. I am seeking help from therapy and I also pray to God to help us all. I know my mother has been going through a lot of difficult things but she has always been like that.

    • @harmonygordon6901
      @harmonygordon6901 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@rafaelzengo5534 very glad to hear that you are consulting a therapist.
This can be very helpful. Unless your mother has a Spiritual awakening to be truly converted to Jesus through the Holy Ghost then your mother will remain selfish. Only life in the Spirit of God can make a person be on the road to laying down selfishness .
What I am saying is, don't expect her to change. You can pray for her but you can't change her.
      She does sound toxic.
The Bible tells people to grow up, to leave and cleave to a spouse.
Once you have a spouse and child your first responsibility is them. This is your family and you are the head of this core family .
Just do what is rite for your core family first. Whatever you do for your mom at this period of life is PURE GIFT to her.
And the recipient of a gift can take or leave what is offered. The recipient doesn't have the rite to demand gifts.
Please take care of yourself and your core family. Seek God's will and do your best to fulfill God's will.
When we live this way we can hold our heads up and DEFLECT shame.
They can offer us shame, but we don't have to pick it up and wear it.
As long as you are rite with God you don't need to worry about what other people think. Blessings upon you and your core family.
I know its a burden to deal with a toxic mother. Sometimes the mother has undiagnosed mental illness, like narcissistic disorder.
      Ask your therapist about this.
There are books written to help people cope with living as adults who have parents who are untreated mentally ill .
You are blessed. You made it to adulthood and you have a wife and child.
Be the best husband/dad that you can.
You are always still your mothers son.
But once you leave and cleave your mommy isn't your boss anymore.
Be FIRM and consistent in boundary setting with your mom.
Holding strong & consistent boundaries with her will educate her on what behavior you'll except from her and what you won't accept.
You are allowed to take breaks from her when she is acting badly.
Tell her your going to take two or three days for quiet contemplating. As an adult we have the right to take breaks to guard our own mental health.
      Toxic people are draining.

so the previous video was about finding a boyfriend that was a true catholic... and now, friends MUST BE catholic as well to be good. Hmmmm. I understand if this video is directed to the youth, which will help to keep them away from bad stuff but not 100%. BUT, it is not totally true because not necessarily the saints are in the church, I believe some outside as well... and some little evil ones are also inside the Church making everyone believe they are saints. As an example, my best friend was a Chinese girl who didn't practice any religion. She basically didn't believe but she was at church when I received my confirmation, she loves churches because of the architecture, and music, but I believe she was probably close to a saint because she was a virgin with morals, excellent beaviour, no bad words, she was an excellent daughter to her parents, and sister to her brother... she lived for them. She didn't need to be a catholic to be all of that... all she needs is the moment that God will actually show Himself to her, I'm sure she will recognize Him.

Respectfully, I think you are reading too much into her comments about finding Catholic friends. Friendships usually start from having a common interest, and this being a Catholic channel, that faith is a good starting point for where to find friends. It's just that a starting point, not an end point. At no point did she say or infer that you shouldn't have non-Catholic friends - that your friends "MUST BE catholic".
In her other video about dating, she did advise against dating outside of the Church, not because non-Catholics are bad people, but because the end goal of dating is marriage and if two people are of different faiths, it makes the union of marriage more difficult (that's not saying that it's impossible). A shared faith in a romantic relationship is an important issue that needs to be given thoughtful consideration and discerned. As you pointed out these videos are directed to the youth, and many times young people do not consider a shared faith when they start becoming romantically involved with people. I believe that was the main highlight of that video.

She didn't say friends had to be Catholic. She said people that call forth the good in you. Essentially, people who want the best for you. These people can be of any creed.

friendship is NOT about 'vulnerability' (idk why focus is so obsessed with this term) it's about TRUST and HONESTY

@@Spectrometer no no no. In order to be vulnerable, you need to be either desperate or trusting. Trust comes first and is a journey, not a destination. Think of any relationship that you have: it's built on TRUST not vulnerability. Vulnerability is a completely separate issue. These focus people really lack good language to explain and it comes off as 'feel good' rather than the truth. Feelings are for Protestants, the truth is for Catholics.

@@reznet2 "in order to be vulnerable, you need to be either desperate or trusting" you said it yourself.
Don't play the "truth" card, we are not talking about Catholic Dogma, we are talking about the debatable philosophy of friendship.

Amen love one another in Christ Jesus
Adam and Eve cloth themselves in their own righteousness with fig leaves.
    Isa64:6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
So God clothed both Adam and Eve in animal skins.
In this act blood was shed
    Heb9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
    Heb13:8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
AS IS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT SO IT IS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT.
    1Cor15:45
45And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
We are born in sin and sin nature. And are redeemed through Jesus Christ born again with the in feeling of the Holy Spirit.
There’s so much in the Garden
Now though Jesus Christ we are we received salvation and will be with him in paradise.
