Thanks for the tip. The new gasket was so different from the old one, and I thought the weight of the tank (plus water) would help situate it correctly since mine didn't seem to have the notches to represent that it might actually fit in some way to the nylon part. But I'll look at it again to make sure so I don't have any leaks.
I know the pain. Those two bolts on the side is better to glue them on with silicone and tight it up with a bolt. And the doughnut seal i have today put it different way around so the narrow bit to the top as the other way it was constantly leaking. I will see how it goes now
Well how did your toilet repairs go? As for using silicone for some of your toilet repairs as you have explained...I would not recommend that as the repairs should be done without using silicone as you have explained. New rubber washers & gaskets are the way to go with toilets. Let me know how you did with the toilet repairs. I have more toilet repairs & all kinds of other things on my channel to learn & save from. Just go to my main TH-cam channel page then click on playlists then scroll down. Try it!
Yes he's doing it wrong, it's the completely wrong gasket. I can tell it's one of those 3 hole Kohler tanks you need to purchase the Kohler tank to bowl seal kit in order to properly seal that tank. The 3 sided rubber gasket he has is not Kohler brand must be some knock off gasket he bought to be cheap. Should leave plumbing to plumbers though a little extra money for a better piece of mind
Well I would say the doughnut needs to be wide since that will actually set down on top of the toilet bowl before sinching down the toilet tank to the bowl. See?
Haha I initially got the new triangular 3 hole gasket at Lowes & that was the one they had then after trying to use it I ultimately opted to remove it & go with three individual bolts & washers instead & worked fine. Notice the title of video?!! I hear you when you say just call a plumber but that's why I'm deciding to do it myself so I can show the average Joe viewer how to fix their toilet so they don't have to spend their money on plumbers & such! I think you might be missing the point of all my average Joe videos for DIY.
+stretch it Ha! For me this was truly the toilet from hell. I learned alot though & will now be more knowledgeable next time I need to put a toilet together. Isn't that how it works with pretty much anything? Do it & learn it. It also gave me the opportunity to make these videos. Thanks again for all your comments! Much appreciated. Joe :0
Wow that one looks slightly different than the one I got to replace then tried then pulled it off to do it another way. Thanks though for the link for those viewers who want to see what's on the link.

Can you believe I'm still working on this toilet from hell? Almost finished though! Joe :0
Yes that lines up with the top Nut put it in hot water to soften the rubber up
Wow cool tip. I have never heard of this before but it makes sense! I would really hate to be a plumber! This truly was the toilet from hell!
Try an older Gerber toilet tank to bowl seal. Can't find one that works
Thanks for the info but I had to do what I had to do with the parts that I had note the title of course!

Thus the title name!!
20 days of my toilet from hell lol. Why are toilets even in two parts grrr!
thus the title for sure. Actually they do in fact sell one piece toilets but they are very heavy & very expensive!
Help Joe!!!! The doughnut is a lot wider than the plastic piping I mean a lot wider, 1/2 inch gap! This is wrong, right?
