Yep. Once the heavy armor begins to show up, it's a toss-up, depending on how much the game decides to throw at you at once. Heavy armor requires special weapons or strategems to deal with and you can only have so much so fast. If the game RNG decides, "Hey you know what would be fun? Eight chargers in a row!" you stand a good chance of just being screwed.
It was a constant "it's so so over" against bots with me. I don't know how often that happens, but it was the first time when a whole mission is a never ending battle with constant bot drops

iirc I left it by default to what my GPU could run as set by the game. Did not tinker around with the settings a lot. Last I checked it was running Ultra on some while others are left medium to high.
