You mentioned the mate threat before missing it. Hilarious mate. Second game was fun. Good that you counted and calculated the ending on the third game. Cheers Ben.
Randomly found your channel and really enjoyed your commentary. Learned a lot! Thanks for explaining your thought process and for all the tips in different spots. For example, having your queen and kind on opposite squares in the end game to prevent getting forked in the last game. Good luck with your future games and rating climb!
For the way ward queen schorlars mate you go Nbc6 then g6 to kick the queen then Ngf6 so e4 e5 Qh5 Nbc6 Bc4 g6 Qf3 and Nf6 ... been teaching the wife scolars mate defence ... cheers on the grind
When I saw this video, I instantly recalled my Dad's rule that there is NO substitute for actual chess skill. No matter how intelligent you are, SKILLS are what separate the MEN from the boys. If you want to improve your play, it's gonna take some WORK. Best of luck!
Well no…if an opening is unsound then it just is. No matter how well the oponent plays. The problem with „unsound“ openings, from a learning curve point of view, is that you just get used to not playing the best moves in the position
Enjoy your games, but you aren't really experienced enough yet to discuss whether an opening or gambit is sound or not 🙃 I enjoyed the discussion of Qe5 to mate, after which you forgot then made worst move on the board, gave me a good laugh, very GingerGM-esque. Good luck on your chess journey.
You’re kinda missing the point over sound/unsound openings. My opponents are similarly inexperienced, so an opening is only unsound if they can prove it so.

Yeah what a numpty.
@ The important point is that you managed to take a breath, count and calculate the knight versus pawn endgame. Quality mate you can play chess.
The 'Goldfish Technique' for avoiding blunders became 'Goldfish _Memory'_ forgetting the M1 you just set up. 😂
7:04 What happened to this idea??Hung the mate, mate !!
Oh you noticed that did you? Hee hee...
@@ChessBootCamp You even mentioned you were threatening it 😂
@@AlastairNeil think we call that goldfish brain
@@AlastairNeil Well it was merely an idle threat 🙂

Many thanks, appreciate the support.
Cheers Ben. That first game was comedy gold.
Welcome.
A couple of moments where I spoke out loud to my monitor like a madman in this one.Of course the missed mate but 28:24 as well.
I'm sure, happy to entertain :-)

Thanks, but would need timestamp to check.
21:00 Possibility of an ICBM style attack if you take the knight and he recaptured with the pawn?
Like it! I'm trying to look out for those Bxf+ deflection tactics more. It's quite common in the Göring.
When are you going to review the world championship games Ben??
There are two issues with that. 1) I'm not qualified to know what they're doing, and 2) They look pretty fucking boring.
@ this is exactly why I want to watch it!!
Ben, what was the name of that black defense you used to play where you move the queen-side knight over to join the king-side knight?
Probably the Black Knights Tango (aka Mexican Defence) with 1 d4 Nf6, 2 c4 Nc6. I still play it.
@@ChessBootCamp I looked at that and don't think that was it. I seem to remember Nd7. I did some searches but can't find it.

No such thing as luck in chess, but thanks all the same :-)

@@ChessBootCamp No, you're kinda missing the point.
