I’m pretty sure that if I tried this team, every opponent would just taunt my Gengar on turn 1, cause that’s what I would do. I’m amazed it didn’t happen even once in this video

Running a scuffed Gengar like that just for the bluff is crazy. Like just run Mimikyu for goodness sake, it does everything the Gengar is doing but better, it’s also immune to scale shot.

I feel like the cursed body & being able to mostly ignore intimidate is worth it

@ I mean you can give Mimikyu a clear amulet, or any other item for that matter. Lum berry, safety goggles, sitrus berry, mental herb, life orb. Cursed body is just a side benefit, it’s not a consistent strategic tool.
The only advantage I can see from Gengar is that it’s a closed sheet BO1 match so no one is gonna expect Gengar to trick room therefore they will not taunt or imprison. I mean if it works it works but I think it’s a bit silly.

I played this team about a week ago, don't believe it was James. But yeah that Gengar Trick Room and the Incin with Power Band really threw me for a loop for a bit, I managed to recover controlling tempo with a Support Tinkaton. This team would probably do great as a best of 1 team, but getting a second round with it would probably go bad for you.
