Aww how sweet... my daughter is currently trying to get me in the mood for buying a rat as a pet and I'm trying to work my way up to doing it, but, when they've been the enemy in your home for so long, it's kinda hard to think of them as a pet! Lol! Do you have any suggestions on how to overcome my fear of them???

That cat doesn't look like he is participating in the affection, only tolerating it. He showed no care or affection for the rat. Smacks him with his paw, doesn't groom him back, or even look at him much. When the rat started to bug him in the window, he got up and walked away.
yeah its all fun and games until either the cats prey drive kicks in, the cat plays too rough with the rat, or the cat ends up licking the rat and giving the rat all of its bacteria in its mouth some of which can be deadly to small mammals. the cat just looks like it tolerates the rat, this won’t go in the right direction.

He’d throw him all across our yard let him “escape” than run and throw him back into the center until the rat is literally begging for a death that wouldn’t come easy. He was brutal to them, to the point I felt bad for the mice/rats, but knew it was nature taking its natural course, and would let him eventually kill them. Plus we had a infestation of mice at that point, and he’d kill/scare them all off before they ever got in our house or garage, he’d leave the corpses on our porch as a present.
