    Brother inlaw bought a old jet boat that had a new motor but was otherwise needed lots of work.
    10 years later were running the crap out of it and have been for years. Love those long trips, that small block jet boat just finished a 750 mile round trip on the Yukon River and brought home a 58" bull moose.
    Only issue was a new but faulty fuel filter, had a spare so no biggie. 👍 lifes good.

    I have been watching your vids for awhile now and this is the best. You narrated an adventure. Boats, in my mind, are not an expensive raft to park in a natural pool. Use it and explore. Put it on a trailer and go somewhere you haven't been and get that rush of exploration as you referenced. I pontificated enough. At 11:05 was the noob pissin blood off the bow? Should be.

    I remember when Mean Chicken was the only resource now Bam Live action with maps.. Terror only goes away with Hrs on the water. Good run Made Granite look like rush creek.

    How fast do the currents flow on these rapids?

    Made it about five miles down from corn creek. Earned us a nice gash in the bottom and hole in the oil pan. Learning from you tube bad idea.

      What was the flow, or the level on ramp?

      I can’t remember off hand. It was the end of July last year so pretty low. I have since learned that speed lac of confidence and second guessing was a HUGE factor in the carnage.

    • @idahoviking
      @idahoviking  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Last year's flow record is in the 6K CFS White Bird range. That is low even if you already know the river. 12K is maybe a low end of read-and-run if you have good experience on other rivers. But running downstream first makes the task more intense, and you can box yourself into a bad spot. Depending on how far downstream you'd like to go, it may be worthwhile to start 95 miles downstream and run up at a bit higher flow. My general philosophy is go effing fast, and get into the flow state. But also be aware when slowing or scouting appear to be necessary; this may be indicated by that feeling of uncertainty.

    Great video thank you for sharing! I would love to learn the first 10 miles below corn creek at 0 any advice?

    • @idahoviking
      @idahoviking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought a Russian inflatable for this task, but have only run it a few times. But I'm not entirely sure it's necessary. It's possible I'll end up taking all the same lines I would have via read-and-run in the HCM. People often say the first mile is the worst. But that may be mostly because beginners wreck their boats in the first mile. If they started on the second mile, then they'd say the second is the worst. But definitely some care is advised.

    Can you give a tutorial how to run from pine bar to American bar under the bridge area at Rice creek?

    Hello Viking. Great Videos... Can you recommend me a proper scaner for a KODIAK 6.2 DI? Think I have an electric problem. Thanks!!!

    • @idahoviking
      @idahoviking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a Diacom on mine when it was new. I used this successfully to diagnose throttle response issues. Otherwise I can make no recommendation. I understand that less expensive scanners will work, but have no experience.

    Great video! How long did the trip take?

    • @idahoviking
      @idahoviking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      5 days. But this was at least in part to allow for scouting and terror/recovery of noobs. Experienced guys running steadily could make it in 3 days and still have some relaxation time. A wrench in the machine is refueling logistics, which means being 100% certain of being at Pittsburg Landing when the fuel truck arrives.

    Your humor is strange, but I like it. How did You manage not getting banned by TH-cam? No way TH-cam would let pass this words in a video in Europe. Not even if reflected in a serious way. The EU has no humor.

    • @idahoviking
      @idahoviking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don't know. The words you are probably referring to are from a video that already existed on TH-cam. So I guessed it might not cause negative reaction.

    All the stopping the video, just to narrate was making my ears bleed. The video was awesome when the flowing river was on the screen. It’s so hard to find videos like this. They are on TH-cam, but extremely hard to find cause of the way they are titled.

      You appear to be stating that educational discussion of routes taken is undesirable. Is this correct?
