It's not all about where you "mess up" or "tumble" or "fall".. it's also about your overall difficulty level and artistry.

That comment was outragous given the way she was awarded her spot on the 2014 U.S Olympic Team. She had fallen during her LP and was given the spot that Mirai Nagasu had won. She is the perfect example of the girl who falls yet who ends up ahead of a competitor with a better performance.

She got put on the team because of her overall international performances. The US figure skating committee made a choice made on who would likely score higher in the olympics. Mirai has one better performance. Ashley had a stronger season (with little to no comparison). Please do your research.

She's not 100% right. The one ahead of her was a sight to behold inspite of her fall but jump after jump she excels more than her. Yes, she didn't fall because she did not do the jumps she was supposed to do and that even made her program less of a winner.

Karma ... 2 Olympics being 4th at Nationals? Don't think so!!! You didn't even deserve going to Sochi ... Mirai in 2014 just accepted her fate, why don't you just accept yours this time

She is 100% right because that is same way I feel as a viewer.

Is she talking about mao asada?

I agree. The skaters more than the fans should be able to see a print out of their scores so they can see where they need to improve. Sarah Hughs won Gold because she happened to skate a clean program for a change & her opponents had falls in their programs.

but she's not competing against other skaters not herself so thats bullshit

they can, it’s called a score protocol and you can even find them online. love ashley but that’s the only part i don’t get about this, they tell you exactly what they scored you for technical elements and your components.

    Patricia,
She was sent to the Olympics based on her international experience. Mirai is inconsistent at best. Ashley has been consistent on the Grand Prix circuit and in major international competitions. The USFC sends the skaters who represent the best chance of winning a medal to the Olympics. Stop posting statements based on emotion and use your brain next time.

Ashley isn't exactly the definition of consistency. If she has won something is either because she didn't mess up big time or because her competition mess up or there wasn't any competition at all. At the 2014 TEB she felt just like Yulia Lipnitskaya, but she still lost against her because Yulia still had higher technical scores. According to her logic someone with a lower technical score who didn't fall or "stumble" should be in the podium instead of those who did even with a higher technical score.
The hilarious part about this is that she is always defending her results and explaining what I just said so why is she now saying the opposite? Because she thinks the judges cheated and of course she is not going to say it so bluntly.
Last person to complain specially for someone who can't stop two footing her landings. No to mention that she made her comments look like she was talking about something else and not the final result LOL
She also says there should be more clarity for the viewers to understand what is happening but in this video she just made the public think that falling or stumbling is equal to"doom" when that is not the case anymore under the current rules.

Kitty sha Mirai is also known for two footed landings. How many times has she been the leader after the short program, only to either self destruct or underrotate/double foot the landings on her jumps and end up winning silver or bronze? Ashley has won multiple Grand Prix events. Mirai never has. Do I think Ashley is capable of more? Yes. However, the USFA bases their decisions on the previous two seasons of competition, national & international. I'm not defending either Ashley or Mirai, because both are capable of delivering better performances than what we've seen thus far.
She does make a valid point about the judging system needing to be tweaked. Lipnitskaya fell and she still finished ahead of Ashley. Even Sotnikova shouldn't have won Olympic gold. Her 3/3 was underrotated and took off on the wrong edge and her artistic presentation sorely lacked in comparison to Kostner or Kim.

Troy Turner I'm not going to argue Sotnikova vs Kim because I have done this way too much by now.
Ashley doesn't explain why all the sudden she thinks higher execution should beat higher difficulty. Too begin she shouldn't complain about her being lower than Yulia when she had mistakes in her program as well so she can't even say "I skated clean and still got robbed." Nope.
Ashely is wrong because one, again, she is not in place to talk and two, she made everyone more confuse by saying falling and stumbling means you lose completely.
She just put the picture that Sotnikova should have lost without explaining the whole thing while asking for clarity.
      No room to talk.

Kitty sha The part that baffles me is that the new judging system is still confusing and for that I blame the ISU president. He's a speed skater who's freely admitted that he knows squat about figure skating. Idiots like him shouldn't be in office to begin with. Figure skating's popularity has declined due to the judging system and because skaters like Michelle Kwan and Sasha Cohen are retired from the sport. Not to mention, you shouldn't get points for jumps ATTEMPTED (singling, doubling, two-footing or falling on jumps). So Ashley does make a valid point when she stated that the judging system needs a LOT of work. And you don't need to be in the sport to see that.
However, the person who skated clean should be ahead in the standings. Kim and Kostner skated without mistake. Sotnikova had several mistakes and yet the no talent hack wins gold. Ugh....

    • @kittysha5003
      @kittysha5003 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Troy Turner Ashley didn't mention everything you just said.
"Not to mention, you shouldn't get points for jumps ATTEMPTED (singling, doubling, two-footing or falling on jumps)."
Again, she shouldn't talk because she fails to complete the rotations or two footed her landings. Her technical score is by far lower than Yulia's so she can't say she was robbed when she didn't skate clean.
Once again no room to talk and clearly not the right person to talk about the judging system since the only thing she did was contradict her own result.
She found it convenient to protest this result at that time but she wouldn't do that when it benefits her. Hypocrite much?
