Ya old bikes can break your heart at times, but most always you can do something to get ya home. Not like bikes today. That black and white Panhead is a beauty!! Looking forward to your's, and Hippies, upcoming video's on the different events. The old linkert makes me remember back when I rode with friends, on my old knuckle, and I could pull the idle needle out and show it to them as we ran down the rode. they couldn't figure it out lol. I will keep an eye on how you make out with the Ultra Sonic Cleaner. I have thought about them more than once before. All the best Slick
Thanks Slick!!! Excelent video, you never fail. You left that carburetor immaculate 👌🏻 bright as Sky’s eyes. Thanks for the centerfold, short but delicious. Stay you always with de head and fingers slippery. Ps: bike the Megan is una Honda Rebel???
Thanks for the great video Slick. My tool kit includes every tool I can fit in my saddle bags for when my bike takes a shit at night on some lonely assed back road. Every tool except the one I fuckin need.
😂😂 ain’t it something!!! By the time i’m done, i’ll be carrying around enough tools and supplies, to split the cases and rebuild the motor on the side of the road!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 👍🍺
@edZILLA64 i’m not 100% sold on those machines yet Ed I need some time to play with it. They’re not the end all to be all but they do a pretty good job from what I see but before I can really tell you if I like them or not I need to keep using it. You can reuse the chemical as long as it doesn’t get too dirty, I mean hell you don’t even have to use chemical you can use water because it uses sound frequencies in the water to make bubbles attack the dirt and grime. I’m gonna try Pine-Sol next.
Thanks brother, AND if you have subscribed, then welcome aboard, glad to have ya!!! That Hippie is good for something i guess!!! 😂😂😂 just playing that’s my brother!!! Well joe buckle up, cause you’re gonna have a good time over here at SlickHead Custom Cycles!!! 👍🍺 SLICK
If you ever have problems with the float, try a "Rubber Ducky". They won't leak & last forever. The trap door on the choke blade allows for airflow after it starts.
Great video! I think T bone got it 750 Rebel. Never owned one but it looks really cool! I bet it’s super dependable as well. You really did a number on that carb! You could eat off that thing. I have to take a page from you and Ralph you do everything patiently and methodically which is what these old bikes deserve! Can’t wait to see both you and Hippies next videos. Much appreciated!
Thanks bill. Yup Tbone was right its a Honda Rebel 1100cc DCT which means it has an automatic transmission!!! She don’t have to worry about clutch shifting!!! Its Really an incredible bike!!!! I’ll eventually do a feature on it!!! 👍🍺
Man that is so cool. I bet it’s reliable 🤣 she’s really going to love it!!! Can’t wait to check it out. Between You, Ralph, & Hippie you have given this super overly busy family man who still rides & wrenches daily great content to watch!!! First smart phone ever was August of this year my wife and oldest forced it upon me 🤣 happy to have come across you guys! Thank You!!!
Nice one slick used to look at the bar who dit had the the greesiest hands and knew it was someone who drove n old harley but for now its geting harder to find those guys. But we are still going and driving oldies greetings lex
I use a Bendix 40mm carburetor for my 63 panhead works fine one kick every time I still have my linkert I ran with that 1985-1990I it would fight me on certain days decided I just wanted a carburetor with a accelerator pump because the linker doesn’t have it.I still use the same stock air cleaner. It’s always a little thing like a wire coming off or a foul spark that’s why we carry our tools on the bike
I'm just figuring out trying different ways to kickstart the Bendix in the 1970 and cold wise. It's several squirts from the accelerator several prime kicks. Ignition on and throttle wide open. That seems to make it come to life the best not just throttle on a little bit when you're kicking in the ignition is on. I guess every bike is different they have their personalities.
I know everyone sings the praises of the ultrasonic cleaner, but i really dont think they are all that... clean shit the old way! Plus if you put the wrong solution in it it can really f up some stuff. My two cents. Take er easy Slick 🤘
Thanks X. Any info is appreciated. Oh and meg’s new bike is a 2024 Honda Rebel 1100cc DCT automatic transmission!!! The bike is amazing!!! I’ll feature it soon!! 👍🍺
Well I think that would be you know in case you have the choke all the way closed once it starts it pulls it open and does allow more air so it's not like totally choking it to death and flooding the motor and flooding the carburetor with gas That's what I think. Just guessing
That sorta makes sense, but who would do a hot kick with the choke completely closed? It’s just not how you start bikes with linkerts!! And when you prime kicking wouldn’t it open then, essentially screwing up the vacuum required to draw gas up outta the bowl?? I really gotta find literature on the actual theory of this dam thing!!!! 😂😂😂
@@SlickHeadCustomCycles Well I was thinking in case it would accidentally close now maybe it's quite positive ,that it doesn't stay when you open it stays open the choke and when you close it it stays closed. I've made the detrnt a little deeper in my Bendix because I found it would slightly actuate and move to a slightly closed position course it's now a pain in the butt to actually get it to go to choke but it's better that the choke when you take it off choke it stays off of choke .. but maybe that's one of the secrets that no one will ever know. Best of luck I have some things that have made me scratch my head in I never did figure out.
That is the salt in the air in NJ eats wires glade to see it was a easy fix a as for that valve in the carburetor if you can get in touch with Mat at wheels through time I bet he can tell you
I also have a 69 shovel head blue/white rides like a tractor sitting straight up. I have the BUDDY seat but I didn’t put it on yet I just don’t like the mousetrap eliminator. It’s harder to shift .
Wow I’ve never heard anyone say that about the mousetrap, if you set it up exactly the way pacific mike demonstrates in his video on it, i bet you’ll change your mind about the mousetrap!!! 👍🍺
I love linkerts!!! Simple, easily tuned!! But did you see the question I asked about the Spring valve on the choke disk? I thought maybe you would’ve had taken a deep dive and figured out how they actually operate!!! And the theory behind them!! They pull open with vacuum while full choke priming I guess, but why??? 👍🍺
@@SlickHeadCustomCycles I asked about the linkert .cuz I've heard people don't like them .and some people like them. But I'm not sure if they would actually bolt up to a Bendix manifold My 1970 could have a Bendix or could have a linker as I understand it from the factory. I don't have one I was just wondering I'm always changing something and maybe if I'd find one of the swap meet I would give it a try
Lol 😂 as soon as i edit and produce Hippie’s, from Hippie’s Chopper Corner, his video on his trip to the texas born free chopper show!!! as soon as this video drops tonight, i’ll start working on his, then i can get back to my jackson swap meet video!!! It’s gonna be good too!! So blame hippie for holding us up!!!! 😂😂😂
Another awesome video by Slickhead Productions!
