Can we get an idea which tag should be used for which file or which tags are mandatory?

The mandatory tags are very dependent on the application & type of data. So for instance if we look at Innolitics' DICOM standard browser (which is generally the easiest tool for that IMO) here: dicom.innolitics.com/ciods/ct-image we can see that for CT images the "Patient" module is mandatory, and within that module the Patient Name, ID, Birth date, and Sex are mandatory. Several other modules with their own requirements are mandatory as well. But these vary a lot, and practical implementations of the DICOM standard may have their own requirements (which should be defined in a Conformance Statement made available to any other entity that is supposed to communicate with them).

    Hi,
On the Dicom tag : (0018, 115E ) it stores the DAP value eg 1.149 with no units. It is known that DAP is expressed in Gy.cm2 but under dicom standards its given as dGy.cm2. I know they just differ by prefix and contextually they the same. How would I know what units my DAP value actually is ? My X ray was captured with a Siemens machine, and the image was complemented with a Dicom info. Since it follows Dicom standards can I assume it'll use dGy.cm2 as its units or could there be an exception to this ? Basically I'm asking if a system is following dicom protocols then they must have the the same units stipulated by Dicom standards or can they differ i.e instead of dGy.cm2, they present the value stored in this tag in Gy.cm2 ? Note: this is not a private tag.
    Thanks

@@uzairhoosen2265 they *should* follow the standards, and if not they should document it somewhere (maybe the conformance statement). Only the service that produced the image could confirm it for sure for your images, however, I can't vouch for their compliance with the standards.
