Way back when Zoro took Luffy´s pain from Kuma it was not "just" because of their deep bonds but because Zoro realized that it was not coincidence that he was the one who arrived at that situation, but his destiny! He knew that this day would come, even if it was not Kuma but someone else. Funny thing, next time we get a good glimpse(real fight) at him , if I remember correctly is post timeskip and thus we acually don´t know how much of his new abilities and attacks resulted not from the timeskip training but taking on more (physical) pain than he ever had before.
this fight was only half a chapter long and that attack was just a single panel (albeit it was on a double page spead) but I love how extra they went in the anime. I dont say this often but good job Toei
yeah, its hard to add stuff for dialogue because it might be spoiling and it would affect the story, but its a lot easier to lengthen fights which people don't mind if its animated well, which toei has been doing
It's about time they invested the amount of dosh they been making into the animation. With animation like this One Piece can keep its spot as number 1 shonen. It's action scenes were slacking but ever since Wano they have stepped to another level.

I cannot express how much I love Zoro's theme playing in this scene. It's so badass without being the traditional epic music that you'd expect from a scene like this. It's slower, and more foreboding. It suits Zoro's personality and style of fighting so well.
It really fits. Zoro looks like a complete phsycho when he keeps the scythe in his chest. In this scene Zoro isn't being portrayed as a demon instead of a hero which fits his character

Punk hazard to Dressrosa were the dark ages for the animation, We got some great changes for Zou - Zou happened to be an interim arc where series directors changed to the one for Whole cake island (I cannot remember his name) Afterwards we moved to Wano. The series now has 3 chief animation supervisors..... The animators never really changed. We lost some from the rotation over the years (Ryo Onishi for example went on to working on movies) but it's the same group. The guy who animated this scene here? he animated -Luffy beats crocodile -Ganfall vs Shura -Luffy beating usopp -Luffy vs Blueno Gear 2 -Luffy beats Lucci etc. Dude's been around since the beginning he's a One piece veteran. But as he got older his work got more loose - I think it has more to do with Toei FINALLY moving forward with their industry. They're letting webgen animators on One Piece and loosening up.
Don't know why, but the way the ground splits into gigantic cubes from the slashes look so goddamned satisfying. I don't know what it is about it, but it's satisfying.
Haven't seen anyone comment it, so I will. This animator is called Katsumi Ishizuka. It's SO AWESOME what he's been able to accomplish here because of time and the new character designs, his work is (I think) clearly inspired by Nakamura (animator at bones, he animated Deku's last attack against Overhaul in the Save Eri arc for example). The way he uses impact frames and the cubic debris is a giveaway
It's pretty easy to recognize Ishizuka's style. He uses smears a lot in his animation to an amazing effect. Remember Zoro using Tatsumaki at the beginning of the arc in the anime? Zoro's Nitoryuu attack on the Scarecrow Stand Hawkins had? Luffy foot stomping on one of the Beast Pirates after he saved Tama? Luffy's Elephant Gun on Kaido? Sanji's "Super Soba Kick?" Those were all animated by Katsumi Ishizuka. When you follow an animator for a while, you tend to recognize their style immediately. It's why this fandom can recognize when Naotoshi Shida animates something.
Maximinoe It‘s no surprise, he created almost a revolution with his use of smears and impact frames, making them almost part of the key frames to make it much more stunning. I’m eager to see what the next step to evolve anime is
Let us remember a few facts: 1. Zoro didn't have Shusui; 2. Zoro fought most of the time using just two swords and handled Kamazo perfectly; 3. Zoro suffered a critical injure on his right shoulder (something that should prove fatal to swordsmen); 4. Zoro was literally starving; 5. Zoro used an improvised third blade (wasn't even a sword).
Kendrajrockin5 zoro is badass but luffy the one who change him and made him keep pushing forward to the extent where zoro promise to be the best swordsman and never loose again then he ended up loosing but they don’t count

The series now has 3 chief animation supervisors.....
The animators never really changed. We lost some from the rotation over the years (Ryo Onishi for example went on to working on movies) but it's the same group. The guy who animated this scene here? he animated

Dude's been around since the beginning he's a One piece veteran. But as he got older his work got more loose - I think it has more to do with Toei FINALLY moving forward with their industry. They're letting webgen animators on One Piece and loosening up.

Haven't seen anyone comment it, so I will. This animator is called Katsumi Ishizuka.
It's SO AWESOME what he's been able to accomplish here because of time and the new character designs, his work is (I think) clearly inspired by Nakamura (animator at bones, he animated Deku's last attack against Overhaul in the Save Eri arc for example). The way he uses impact frames and the cubic debris is a giveaway
Katsumi Ishizuka is the GOAT animator. Absolute legend of the series. Its been fantastic seeing him slowly turn into Yutaka Nakamura.

It's pretty easy to recognize Ishizuka's style. He uses smears a lot in his animation to an amazing effect.
Remember Zoro using Tatsumaki at the beginning of the arc in the anime? Zoro's Nitoryuu attack on the Scarecrow Stand Hawkins had? Luffy foot stomping on one of the Beast Pirates after he saved Tama? Luffy's Elephant Gun on Kaido? Sanji's "Super Soba Kick?"
Those were all animated by Katsumi Ishizuka. When you follow an animator for a while, you tend to recognize their style immediately. It's why this fandom can recognize when Naotoshi Shida animates something.
Maximinoe It‘s no surprise, he created almost a revolution with his use of smears and impact frames, making them almost part of the key frames to make it much more stunning. I’m eager to see what the next step to evolve anime is
