I think the problem we have these days is producers just have TOO much at their disposal, I don't even think this song used an external sampler, literally just an amiga and its 4 audio channels and then mixed back into stereo, which forces creativity... modern DAW's, unlimited available tracks, 1000's of effects, mastering tools, instruments, gigabytes of sample libraries at your fingertips just seems to create over produced, disposable music.
I meet many an ex punk at raves who were drawn to the genre because of the same vibes and sense of creativity in the music. This track is in my very top 5 hardcore classics ever : )
Tez man, I started a vinyl shop in Bradford (The Disc) from nothing back in 90's and we sold mainly Happy Hardcore Techno it was massive - This tune holds massive memories for me :-) still makes me f**king buzz hearing it.... Dougal played this first track in an open air Marquee at BEETLE BASH - you should have seen the People Raving, Dad's with their kids in their arms, women and kids running into the tent, there were hundreds my friend and the whole place went F**king mental the place bounced!! OOOO THEY WERE IN HEAVEN BABY :-) ALL SIMPLY DOWN TO YOU! Respect!
the disc was the record shop!! bought plenty vinyl form you and all my rave tickets went on coaches orgainsed by you guys all over the place good work mate! what a time

Sounds like “Ooh I’m in heaven baby”, and “Ooh yeah”. The “Had to survive” vocal snippet is sung by Caron Wheeler from Soul II Soul in the song, Livin’ in the Light. The last sample is from Star Trek, “You are being taken under our power.” apparently but I have heard it on a 90s sample CD. 🙂 Love to know where the other vocals came from?
