In my opinion in Community Service, with McQueen being put in a steam roller was simply all a dream, not a real thing. And even if these deleted scenes didn't seem right for the movie that John Lasseter (my hero) created, he changed it into what I fell in deep love with as a kid

This was from the original cut of cars from 1999 to 2003 called "American Car". In this cut, Mcqueen was sponsored by "Corrosion Seal" and had the number 57, Mack was a Chevy Pickup hauling a race trailer, Mcqueen had a race partner named "Monty Carl", Mater had a grille, part of the story involved a race in Radiator Springs, and once animated, all of the characters were going to squash and stretch like cartoons. Sometimes, I wish I could see this older cut in its entirety. It would almost be like revisiting childhood from an alternate universe.
And in this same version, Sally was an original & highly original 1964 Ford Mustang However, she was changed to a Porsche, maybe because of the fact that Mustangs are associated with masculinity
@@Keeby256 I think Sally was originally supposed to be a Mustang since they were marketed towards women. Interestingly enough, the Porsche was always a man's car until the 90s.
According to the commentary on the blu-ray for Cars. The reason the team came up with the idea for the community service scene was because they thought it'd be funny if they put McQueen, a race car, in a situation where he's ultra slow. It was scrapped because despite the fact it was a dream, they though it made the townsfolk look crazy. No idea on the lost scene though, Pixar was in their edgy phase I guess.
Fun fact: Cars The Video Game has many things which were cut from the movie, like: Radiator Springs Grand Prix, monster truck Count Spatula, British gentlemen racers
Truth be told, the Lost deleted scene doesn't bother me too much. Yes, it is disturbing and creepy, but nothing I can't handle. But the Community Service deleted scene, holy hell that one is dark! I don't care if that one was all just a dream, the idea of swapping bodies by replacing engines disturbs me so much.
While the graveyard was brought back for a Cars Toons short in Radiator springs 500 1/2, Community service was altered for the final film with McQueen towing Bessie and not becoming a steam roller. A scene you also forgot to show was a early version of McQueen's Nightmare. In the original storyboard McQueen would have crossed the finish line and his engine would fly away against his will. This was obviously removed from the final film and the nightmare that replaced it just showed Chick dying to Frank who wins the race.

The car graveyard scene was very disturbing and I saw that on dvd and it was just unsettling but fun fact the idea was used in radiator springs 500 at the end which was very nice
Maybe this is why I’m more of a Pixar person than a Disney person. Pixar in a lot of their films have had dark moments (I.e, Mr. Incredible and the computer, the Subconscious, Woody’s nightmare, the list goes on)
the graveyard scene reminds me of this really old czech film about a little train running away to escape its job of loading coal and ends up lost in a cave with a bunch of “dead” abandoned trains

The cut version of the movie is actually a great explanation for how Micheal Schumacher shows up in the end as a production Ferrari instead of an F1 car.
It's interesting how the bit with McQueen getting wrapped in barbed wire and scared by the face of a dead car was reused for the actual movie. Just instead of the corpse of a car, it was a statue, lol
The grave yard scene was definitely reused in a cars toon short we’re a bunch of trucks race around radiator springs and they go the wrong way going too a forest with you guess it dead cars
I kind of want a re-theming for the cars ride at Disney land and Disney world during Halloween where you enter the graveyard and get chased by a zombie car
I saw cars 1 when it came out and I was already a preteen. I still felt it was just too heavy and sad for me to enjoy it. I was already getting older and just being like… “This is just depressing” shit aint Jayjay the Jet Plane…. Shit is raw
Both scenes, while really cool, kinda undermine the already extremely flawed internal logic of the anatomy of cars. How would a car die or how a dead car would actually look like, where would its eyes and mouth go? I suppose cars don't have insides in the graveyard scene because all their biological parts decayed and only the steel structure remained? Very weird. I'd love to see a version of cars that deals with these ideas though, I think you could do something with it. Also the body swap scene was utterly insane even for a cut scene, I understand why it was a dream.
