I have a thick gate that I am looking at adding a Yale smart lock. The door is 125mm thick. How long can you go with the extended tail? Much appreciated!
Hi Lock Monster, Is there a way to cut the tail bar with a clamp and hack saw please? I think it looks too fiddly for me personally to do what your video suggests. But Great video for those who can...I'm scared of not being able to do it and going without a lock. Someone said I could cut it to size with a hack saw and a clamp...don't know which kind of clamp/ Any suggestions or warnings please? Kind thanks, Nicky
Or if you have mole grip type pliers, I hold it with those and you can then even get normal pliers on the other end and snap it along the pre made lines
Hi there. I've just over-shortened the tail bar for my yale digital keyless entry lock. Try as I might I can't find anywhere selling these tail bars. Any tips? Thanks in advance, Dan.
@@123nathansquire no I'm afraid not. It seemed the only way to save it was to fabricate and attach a bar. Given my experience with gorilla glue in the meantime I would imagine it could work fine, but since it's the kind of application where you would want peace of mind I'm still not sure I would do it.

it is 80mm, so you have to measure your lock and add 80mm

Thank you for replying. Off to google mole grip pliers. Wishing you a lovely holiday time when it arrives.
What length should the tail be cut to?
enough so it sticks into the receiver slot in the lock, offer it up to the door.
@@LockMonster thank you

They are not available, you have to buy a new complete one
They are available generally for standard rim locks:
