    One of our male house finches was doing a mating display for the female yesterday as they both sat on the rail of our deck. He'd fly from one side to the other of her, fanning out his tail as far as it could go, all the while swaying from side to side and singing as loud as he could. Baby finches coming soon!

    Very nice tutorials. Just one thing makes me grin whenever english is used to find words mimicking birds, in my ecclectic multilingual ear it is not even close to what the birds sound like. If a human language had to be picked to describe bird sounds it would be italian, french or some latin language. English, not a chance, as a trombone is too remote from songbird sounds. But english better than any language would be ideal for identifying frogs, ducks or geese sounds.
