I'm starting and while everyone says "stick to 16x16, it will be easier..." I find quite difficult to draw in so tiny space where every pixel matters. All submissions where stunning, congratulations!
Yeah, I've found 16 x 16 very difficult. Especially if you are using too many colours. I think the best 16x16 stuff I've done I restricted it to just 4 bold colours, and that worked kind of well. I think a good balance between "small enough to do fast" but "large enough to include some easy defining details" is 24 x 24. It's small enough still though that you can still get away with just moving a couple pixels for animations. That's a size I like working in. 32 x 32 is great, but at that point you've got enough space that you really do have to pay more attention to shading and whatnot, but more importantly, requires you to have better planned more detailed animation which can greatly increase the time it takes to create.
Dude! I appreciate this video so much. Getting to see the different animals in 16px and the various submissions was really interesting and makes me want to try this myself!

I love pixel art no matter how much graphics had advanced. And this video brought me lot of nostalgics of the games that I played since childhood in the NES games.
A seriously underrated channel your videos are so informative and entertaining. I've dropped a lot of things out of frustration over the years because I wanted results fast.
