I wish there was a good audience recording of this though- I'd take it over the board any day. Hearing the crowd during R&C break out was an epic GD experience I'll never forget.

My first show at 16 yrs old. My ride had no tickets, they left when the show started and found me a ride home. Had a good pre-show buzz and was amazed by the parking lot scene. Wandered into the arena and found my seat. Halfway through Sugaree I ate an 1/8 of fake mushrooms that I spent my only money in. Seated by myself, I saw some high school friends 20 rows or so in front of me. Made my way down a few songs later and was handed some goodies. Thoroughly enjoyed myself, although I had no idea how good this show was until years later! Show ends...find my ride, who was drunk, and hung out until the cops cleared the lot. Dude attracted a cop in a construction area and we fucking switched seats at 50mph before pulling over. I got the damn ticket (never saw him again!) and we made it back to good ol' Pennsyltucky safe and sound. Wasted my $ on fake drugs, $50 traffic ticket, all alone entering my 1st show, shady shit all around and I was forever fucking hooked! 30ish shows over the next 4 years. 27 years later and its still the best feeling I've ever felt. Miss you Jerry...❤

Aaahh...the return of Reuben & Cherise. Actually I believe first time played with the Dead? Was really a JGB tune or Jerry solo back in the 70's and then early 80's. I love how the crowd goes completely nuts once he sings the first verse. Best audio and video of this song and show I've come across. Again, hats off to you Mr. Tobin. You're the Charlie Miller(s) of the You Tube generation...and that's a high honor. Keep 'em coming brother!
My uncle went to 46 shows from 1977 thru 1995, and he maintains the most excited the crowd ever got was this show at Cap Centre when the boys busted out "Rubin and Cherise". He said people weren't quite sure they were really hearing what they were hearing until the line 'Rubin was strumming his painted mandolin' and that was when it truly true hit everyone "Rubin and Cherise" was what they wear hearing.
The Ripple bust out at Cap Centre 9/3/88 was all-time greatest. Close 2nd for me was the Dark Star 10/9/89 Warlocks and the Attics of my Life same show. I was also fortunate enough to be at this show and Ruben and Cherise is one of my favs.
my first hit on it was Built to last. and be sure, Tobin has the best uality here by far-- but be sure to listen to the audience copy of that breakout. there is one up. is it thejjj69? channel. anyway--- its overwhelming and profoundly overwhelming to hear the audience reaction when they are sure they know what they are hearing. it comes in 3 waves. its overwhelming. I believed the first wave. for a split second I thought it must be built to last

One of the best overall sounding concerts. No drop-out. Bob Weir sounds the best I've very heard him. Bruce Hornsby is excellent. This is a peak Grateful dead concert imho. Jerry and Vince RIP.
Had a fun seat in the Cap.Center for this show...one of those seats over the area going into the concourse kinda over behind Jerry a bit had a chair room dance and a shelf for my drink and to roll one or two....this video doesn't capture the crowds eruption at the start of Ruben and Charise
The thing about the Cap Center. Its 10 miles from RFK. RFK sounds like poo poo.. But places like the Cap Center on the east coast.. Wow... The sound... Richmond, Hampton, Phil.....
It was worth it in spades. I went to Buffalo three times from Boston for a single show. 89, 90 and 92. A ten hour ride that was well worth the trip every single time.
No list was chosen by god ! What’s wrong with u ? They had the list days before any show was due ! I even helped them with it by telling them to bring back some of them older tunes !
Bob and Jerry really saw it up at places during this show, but I had to strain to hear Jerry’s notes at points because Vince’s playing was way too loud. I’m not sure who decided to turn up Vince in those days, but it was far too loud and way too much, especially when Vince tried to carry the rhythm throughout an entire song which was never the role of the keyboardist in this band. I will admit, I wore down my treads for years chasing the Good Ol’ Grateful Dead during the Brent decade, and I was thoroughly crushed by his loss, but still… Vince was turned up way too damn loud a lot of the time.
