    I could see this being a fun video game. Jawa: Sandcrawler. It could be an X-Com style game, where you upgrade the crawler, it's facilities, it's crew, and then of course, your Jawa warriors or explorers or something could go out and fight enemies (like sand people), and gather resources. I can already feel the sweet sweet dopamine hits as I upgrade the Sandcrawler's reactor, or droid repair facility and find undiscovered treasure from the desert...

    It's my headcanon that whatever weapons the Rakata used to glass the planet also damaged the metal of that desolate place. With how much they integrated Dark Side force power into everything it might even be some sort of alchemical plague, ancient nanobots that just break down the metal of the planet once they get at it because they were targeted to destroy only it specifically.

    • @herpesdergotterbote2719
      @herpesdergotterbote2719 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @@herpesdergotterbote2719 Yeah, but that process is reversible (that's actually what smelting is, mostly) and does not permanently change the nature of the metal itself. The issue with Tattooine resources, as described, would have to be something much stranger than that.

    My favorite Sandcrawler-fact will always be how Gaddafi almost attacked a Sandcrawler.
    You see:
    In the 1970s, Tunisia and Libya were on the brink of war.
    At the same time though, George Lucas was shooting "a new hope" in Tunisia. And well …
    Here's an excerpt of an article from back in the days:
    "… matters reached high intensity when Libyan made a demand that Tunisia immediately cease its provocative deployment of a massive military vehicle near the border.
    Gaddafi warned that conflict was inevitable if Tunisia did not comply with his demands at once.
    The offensive military vehicle in question was a Jawa Sandcrawler.
    If the demands had come after Star Wars was released, Lucas might have been in a better bargaining position. Since the release of the first installment in the series, Star Wars films have generated more than $10 billion (adjusted for inflation) worldwide.
    At the time, however, Lucas was more interested in getting the first movie done than he was in taking the battle of good and evil directly to Gaddafi.
    He quickly agreed to move the Sandcrawler to a less-provocative location."

    i find it interesting that the structure of the sand crawlers is so similar to the biology of the sandworms in Frank Herbert's Dune. both with the fiery inferno at the back, both scoop up raw dessert and process it, and they are both technically a community of individuals with the sandworms being colony organisms. interesting that the sand people and the freemen also have many parallels. nothing new under the sun, but ideas mutate and appear over and over.

      It's 100% lifted from Dune, it's not a coincidence. The original Star Wars contains loads of homages to different works that Lucas loved, it's no secret. It's why they mine"spice" on kessel.
      To top it off a bunch of the props and designs from Jodorowski's production of Dune that never left pre-production were used for Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

    • @quantemwensday

      could be a effect of the weapons the rakatta used because almost everything they had used the force in some way and or a unintentional effect from the star map they put on every planet they took over
      resulting in a "curse" on the planet
      it's probably the map considering how long it's been
      I'm sure removing the map would help but they're all connected so you'd have to remove more on others first or do something to weaken there power otherwise something worse could happen in the galaxy

      The Rakata didn't just use The Force for all their technology but used the Dark Side. So its possible that the weapon they used to glass Tatooine also released some kind of Dark Side energy that warped the minerals of the world.
      Also could be something more mundane, that the world has an unusual carbon content in its crust because the twin suns causing there to be too much carbon as the planet was formed millions of years ago. Too much carbon will make metal brittle and corrode, and carbon itself is a product of the fusion reaction in stars.

    In The Mandalorian, Chapter 2: “The Child” Din Djarin rides in the main control area of the Jawa sandcrawler on Arvala-7, to great comedic effect. • @thalastianjorus
    @thalastianjorus 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The most glorious part of Tatooine is that it was once a mostly water covered world. The Jawas and Tuskan evolved side by side on that lush, wet world. Incidentally things went wrong with the solar system.

    • @stuglife5514
      @stuglife5514 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh is that the new Disney cannon? I always thought it was lush back in the day, but the rakatta glassed the planet cuz the jawas and sand peoples common ancestor rebelled against them and over time as their suns grew and cuz the glassing eventually turning into sand and that’s why is a desert hellscape

    • @thalastianjorus
      @thalastianjorus 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stuglife5514 The Rakata _ARE_ what went wrong with the solar system. Well, okay, their stars were what truly went wrong, but the Rakata actually made it a permanent problem. The current canon, however, is a single glassing event to finish off the planet. The disease was spreading through the Rakata, and as such they were losing their connection to the force. As ALL of their technology was force based - they were even losing their ability to fly their ships. This left them without any actual fleets of any real size or significance.
      Tatooine was already beginning to roast, and when they rose up yet again ... Instead of the usual culling the population very heavily as a mixture of retribution, and of grabbing extra food, they didn't have the forces to do so easily. As they always had before. Therefore they simply glassed the planet. Knowing that doing so would tip the world's balance, and tump it over into being a desert until their stars burn out.
