I can't imagine how hard it is for them to even witness missing one member not to forget the amount of time they needed to memorize the lyrics, rehearse, learn the part, and even rearranging the choreography, especially Seulgi and Joy (the vocalists) that ended up doing most of Wendy's part. On a bright side though we could see a lot of good potentials from the other members just by covering Wendy's part(?) I hope they will be back as 5 soon:"

Joy covers Wendy the best. I find that interesting since Seulgi is the better singer. There's something about the cadence of Joy's voice that captures Wendy's vibes the most.
I wouldnt say that seulgi is a better singer just that she has more control and has more practice singing high notes, but I agree with the rest( I just don’t like to compare that’s all)

I certainly think the gap between the two is smaller than at debut, but Seulgi is still the better singer. They both are so very good at what they do, so praises to them both.

@Ice Queen well, it didn't seem like you were aware, you even said "Seulgi has the best low register". Many Luvies aren't aware. But yes of course Yeri and Irene are mostly assigned the low notes because they can't project well so of course they're not gonna be belting and singing highnotes when that could be dangerous to their vocal chords, so it's safer for them to sing the mid to low range. But there's been plenty of display of Wendy's low register in their albums as well, especially in the background vocals. She does the low notes for her own lines and sometimes when harmonizing with the others, same goes for Seulgi.

I gave you the facts that Wendy's low register is the best and that's it. imo the way they're able to covered each other lines is because they know the ability and limit for their vocal and only red velvet can cover red velvet precisely. for instance yeri covered wendy's lines in bad boy, she's not trying to make it higher pitch otherwise she's embodying it with her comfortable singing voice and soft tone that she had. also the adlibs is played a major thing on rv discography. that's why RED VELVET IS THE BEST GROUP ALIVE according to billboard. i'm sorry if this confusing it's literally 3am here so...bear with me also i'm not a music major and those lil rumbling is based from what i listen. edit : AUGUST IS ABOUT 1 WEEK!! At 14:20 joy sounded really promising towards hitting that high note of Wendy in hit that drum, not saying she would be able to but the day she is able to it’s over for me I really hope that she keeps getting better, and yes I’ve come back to this vid after almost three years but it’s because their vocals are js so good and there really isn’t any other rv content at the moment sadly
Joy has that kind of voice like Girls Generation’s Seohyun. They can pretty adapt their voice to everyone singing. Even tho Jessica and Taeyeon were good at covering each other parts, Seohyun sounded the most like them when she would cover their parts. Same with Joy, she sounds the most like Wendy when she cover for her as well as when she covers for Seulgi
all of them do such a great job when covering the missing member's parts ! it's pretty obvious something is missing because each of them has a specific style but they do NOT let the performances be bad even when it's only 4 of them
The cadence to Wendy's voice is unmatched. She changes how she sings on each song and has this charisma that not everyone has and knows how to exude emotions to fit the vibe of each song. She is one of the most agile and versatile vocalists in the game!
