I tend to invade when I've got a couple hours free. Thats relaxing time for me. And doing nothing is also relaxing. If some sweaty gankers wont engage unless I walk into a 3v1, then fine, that world is now hostage. I can keep them from griefing other people, and just have a welcome bit of rest while they hang about doing nothing for half an hour. I'll block them after so I dont see them again, but until they either fight or alt-f4, that world is mine to sleep in lol.

At a lower skill level, simple gameplay experience seems to be the deciding factor in pvp encounters. but at a high level, it becomes taken for granted how well one understands their controls and equipment, and technique/philosophy tend to make the final call. I 100% agree that patience is a philosophy that makes any invader far more dangerous, and makes invading much more manageable. nearly every fight I lose these days is due to the excessive force I bring to my fights, expecially when I'm with my buds; as it makes every invader play more thoughtfully, or more chaotically.
I am an extremely patient man, and while I have yet to show anybody my true inner strength, I do believe to be very potent. I'm the kind to go hard and long. I think. I hope to soon find someone to display my potency to. Many many times. Like everything good, this goes to decrease with age past a certain point, better not lose too much time!

Its a boring encounter with a player that only presses a button, I know he is going to die the moment I see him. It’s like playing against your younger brother that only knows one button. Beating him is boring and there is a lot of players that just use one special attack that is very telegraphed and SOMEHOW they get mad when they die
Tryhard gank squads that clear out all the mobs, runaway hosts, hide and seek shenanigans. Sometimes I’m like, “Alright boys, bring it! I’ve got all day!” Other days I’m like, “Aw hell naw, imma chop my finger off right now.”
I was invading at level 25 during my pyro playthrough and I had the host dc on me because I waited three people out and wouldn't walk face first into rob and dual vikes lol
In regard to TH-cam copyright music vs Twitch vods and stuff; have you considered investing in a Mixer? It would allow you to more easily split audio in OBS, if you know how you can also hear game music without having headphones plugged in to the controller, there's a ton of little benefits as a content creator when it comes to Twitch to TH-cam stuff. Alternatively there's that whole audio channel that can be omitted from Twitch vods if you solely play music through that, haven't played with that but seems pretty useful as well

As an invader, a quit out is the most satisfying win. I would MUCH rather die than Sever. Elden ring is chalk full of cowards. I host and I invade. and as a solo host invaders quit out so often sometimes before engaging at all. Even after a little fighting they run off and quit out. Kill the host. Kill the invader. Die with honor.
honestly gank city is still worse even with teammates vs the 1v3 of elden ring as long as you have that optimised build. my sl80 guts build has like 30 greatswords just for weapon arts and some real status stuff for ganks. love to just 1hand it for less damage on those nice invasions.

I'm all about being petty, my longest was about 35 minutes, had a lot of 20-25 minute invasions, but I'll use everything I got and everything in the level to my advantage to get those types of players. I don't always win but I'll give them a hard time either way. lol
I hate aim punch. If there was actually some real incentive to using ultras maybe - just maybe - ill accept this 'mechanic' that only significantly affects weapons that are slow, have high stat requirement, and mediocre damage.
yeah, patience? ive heard of those. they run away for 30 min, or longer, justing hiding behind a bunch of npcs, one to another. they arent good enough to die head-on. then there are the real patient ones that hide for 2 hours and sometimes shoot fire or lightning bolts. but they all lose the same, so idk why they even run. they always run, but they can never hide. and before anyone says anything, im a solo bonfire duelist. no hunter ring, no furled finger helpers, no other reds. only one red at a time. the weak fear the strong.

God that last clip is brutal. It perfectly encapsulates what it means to be an invader. Fighting with every tool available to assure the destruction of the host, even if it means you have to go down with them.
Community term borrowed from first person shooters. It refers to when you get hit mid-attack and it causes your character model to twitch and throw your attack off-course. It’s particularly noticeable with big heavy weapons completely missing their target
A lot of them you can see have used a rune arc giving them potentially 35 additional levels over the invader on top of the 20 levels they potentially already had over the invader (invaders invade up 20+10% of their level). A lot of them drink their flask which means they have double the amount an invader has. So we're not really dueling. We're fighting but the host has a massive advantage. Then to top it off a lot of grace duelists will summon blues and the invader can't know if that's happening or not so the invader can't play patiently. Every moment the fight goes on we're getting closer to a potential blue showing up to gank. If you get 3 or 4 grace duelists in a row as an invader it gets annoying.
