11 out of 10. I love this movie. This is the reason Christian Bale was a fan favourite to become Batman. Also, I am pretty sure the guy being thrown up against the wall and shot in the beginning is the director.
The moment of the guy shaking his head is so underrated. He literally is telling a guy to let him die knowing that he'll be much more valuable with his identity intact than to save the small group of them. The fact that there is a head nod of "don't make this not worth it" to Preston right afterwards, his moment of horror and introspection as they die, the fact the other cleric is actually a coward and orders others to do his killing, UGH. I don't care what critics say, this movie was phenomenal
Indeed good scene. But you know what Preston can kill all of them since he is the best Cleric in the universe. But sense offender guy don't wanted to risk it. Preston already saved their life (atleast at first) if Preston wasn't there they were already dead. Sense offender just wanted to accept the faith.

This was one of the coolest movies after the Matrix. I was surprised to find this years after it came out. Never knew it's existence. Definitely worth watching again.
The gun switch and the non verbal communications between John and the sense offender before the firing line is so subtle the first watch through. But now I see it. The sense offender didn't want to lose John from their cause and helped him decide on the gun switch. A noble sacrifice.
I suppose he had guessed or seen that there was no ammo in the gun. But yeah, knowing your chances are gone and making the best of it aren't equally easy things 😮
I always thought that this movie got more out of its SFX budget than the Matriix got out of theirs. Gun-kata was a wonderful idea, and Christian Bale was the perfect choice as lead. I had more fun in the theater with this movie than any other movie that year. It was sadly underrated.
A lot can be said about this movie... it's awesome. But comparing it to The Matrix it didn't come close to looking as good as The Matrix and the SFX used in it... that's probably why it flopped at the box office, people expected more after The Matrix.
