Too Risky? Spearfishing with Big Bull Sharks

- During the summer months diving off Brisbane, there are a lot of sharks to deal with. Perhaps in this situation it would of been smarter to find another spot despite all the good fish that were in this particular spot.
A good dive and a great catch.,,,but when sharks are around,,we all divers and spearfishers must remember that safety is paramount💯❤️
Yeah you are right, the shark wasn't being very aggressive towards us. It was only really after the fish I believe. Still it would of been safer to find another spot. Hope you enjoyed the video 🙂
Your videos are sick man, just need more of them!!!
mate, you made my night:) I'm going to try and get at least one vid out a month. have a young son and really don't have a lot of time. I'm definitely going to try though!!
@@DownDeep keen as man! It’s really great content
Nice video, im glad fish was the only tax you had to pay 😂
Haha!! Me to!
"Not much of a tax return''; that's a good one!
haha, might need a new accountant😅
thanks mate
Awesome diving
Thanks man!
Omg u are amazing dude.be careful!
Thanks man, we see them all the time. Just have to deal with it
@@DownDeep i see.i was attacked by mako 7 years ago.that's why the ocean scares me.good luck bro
Far out! Would love to hear the story if you don't mind sharing
@@DownDeep @8ballhemeloid While harpoon hunt, a shark attacked me from behind, biting my back and then my arm. I felt no pain at all. It was so fast that i couldn't see anything until blood started flowing. When i noticed the bleeding, I felt like i would die in that moment, and instinctively, i stabbed the shark two times and it disappeared from view.a nearby fishing boat saved me. I'm fine now but i have scars that i will carry for the rest of my life.since that day, i can't bring myself to go into the sea
How I spent years spearing every day off the rocks south Sydney without seeing a single shark I’ll never know 😂😂 thousands of hours hauling bleeding fish on a float and not a single tax man
I envy you! My last shore dive resulted in a hasty retreat back to land while protecting our catch from multiple whaler sharks😅
Just curious - do any of you blokes use a Shark Shield when you're spearing? Wondering if they'd help to minimise tax or are they a good idea but bullshit to use in practice?
I personally have never used one. In the 14 years I have been diving I have only ever dived with one person who has used one and it looked like a pain in the ass. literally, if you weren't carful around him you would get a boot.
In saying that it may be worth the hassle, there are so many more sharks around these days. For personal safety more so then catch protection.
@@DownDeep - Yeah, know what you mean about more common these days. I'm a scuba diver, & get comments about carrying a dive knife, "gunna stab the sharks? Nah, gunna stab YOU when I see one . . . ". Got tangled in 80lb braid once, my buddy freed me quickly, so carry a dive knife ever since. Wondered why spearos don't all use sharkshields when you're ringing the dinner bell - figured they don't work or maybe they aren't "cool".
I carry 2 knives after a tangle. I lost a dodgy knife after the rope i was tangled in dislodged from the holder. I managed to unwrap myself quickly luckily but it was a wake up call.
I might look into getting a shark shield. Something to think about
Is your boat a 17r or 16r?
16r mate
World is a small place. I'm watching your video 0:39 and I'm like FME that bloke looks like my old mate Danny D with a Dad bod. Then I hear him talking rescuing your fish and lose it. Give him a kick in the pants and tell him to give me a call as I don't think the number I have for him is current. Great video, Danny is your problem, he attracts sharks all the time 🤣. Dive Safe, have fun! 🤿🐟
Haha, Danny with the dad bod🤣🤣 nah he is fit as and a weapon of a diver. I'll be sure to kick him in the pants next time I see him though🤣
Glad you liked it mate
