    Why are palettes of mtg boxes destroyed?
    Well, when a transport company hits the pallets with a forklift (which usually happens) and the customer refuses them, the transport company pays the claim to the shipper (WOTC) and disposes of it.
    And that results in: wotc has "sold" merchandise ... and the costs can be written off

    • @NerdAndProudOfIt
      @NerdAndProudOfIt  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it is very unlikely that they would destroy the whole pallet just because it hit by a forklift. we regularily had tha problem with board and card games at the dutch distributor and you just removed the damage product.
      eveything seems a bit shady and weird, tbh! 👊🏻

    Secret lairs is very odd they cheap to store. Maybe its an Amazon fulfillment from an Amazon seller. Its a monthly fee if you dont sell you either trash (but most likely they put it in a mystery amazon box) or send back. It makes no sense for WOTC to destroy secret lairs, they cost next to nothing.

    This is why the def penalty needs to be introduced to higher ups at corporations across the board. They destroy lives and savings.

    • @NerdAndProudOfIt
      @NerdAndProudOfIt  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      it think the death penalty is a bit harsh, but can destroy savings with their actions. if this is true this does as much damage to the brand perception of mtg as the 30th did!

      @TheSillySils ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NerdAndProudOfIt it’s not at this point. 30 years ago before Enron and the other grifts maybe. It’s gone too far. These thieves (not just hasbro, it’s all of them), get to destroy good companies with little to no consequences, and then on top, get paid in a golden parachute or severance beyond what most average people make in a few years). The system is rigged by the top and it’s time they start paying for all they have stolen and destroyed. And it needs to be in a solid pound of flesh.

      @@NerdAndProudOfIt I would though. American corporations are out of control across the board. They are no longer businesses but have essentially become foreign invaders and should be treated with hostility. This isnt just Hasbro like I said.

    It was strange how when the 30th was on sale, then it wasn't, then it was and then ended in a very short time frame. They decided to minimize the overprint they had by listening to us and dumped it. Just thankful that it is not older product. Keep up the 2ndary Market! Where I am buying 90's cards with some tax return. We can keep the game and Swords to Plowshares HASBRO. All the cards we need are already printed.

    It feels a little weird that they would dump Intellectual Property without destroying it? This reflects badly on the company but also increases the risk of scavengers (LOL). I would have thought they would burn them or recycle them instead?

    • @NerdAndProudOfIt
      @NerdAndProudOfIt  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      first thing that would come to mind is recycling indeed, doc labrador, but recycling costs money. and saving money to maximize profit is high on the wotc prio list, so i can easily see them chosing the cheap option to get rid of pallets. 🤔👊🏻

    I guess it’s better mulched in a landfill than sitting in a warehouse to be dumped to the market quietly. I really hope this wasn’t the fate of the legends cards that they opened and refused to release for sensitivity reasons…!

    • @NerdAndProudOfIt
      @NerdAndProudOfIt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh my good, mike, if they really dumped all those beautiful, but culturally not accepted legends cards there too, that would be tragic!
      and i don’t know what would be better, tbh. i am a marketeer and i believe i know a little something about brand management. i’d rather have them admit they overprinted and give the product to hospitals, charity or schools (something we have been doing with the videogame industry for decades with consoles and games), than see it dumped as garbage. this is so harmful to the brand perception…it’s a shame! to me it symbolises that wotc equals mtg with trash. i don’t know if my brand perception and brand value can recover from that. they need to adress things, or they are done. not tomorrow, not next year, but sooner than they think.
      i know what you mean and in principle i agree, but the way they did it, if this is true, is just wrong.

      Tap to add 1 colorless Mana to your mana pool.
      Tap 2 and Landfill - Destroy target Artifact or Equipment
      Flavor text: ‘Never did the arrogant wizards in their ivory towers expect the Landfill to be the reason for their downfall’! - Herald Nerdus the 1st of the Lower Lands

    What seems to be the problem here? There doesn’t seem to be any kind of ethical issue as far as I can see. I’m not sure how it hurts the game either. I don’t want to give WOTC any kind of benefit of the doubt here, but what is it that is causing the vitriol over this situation? I feel like I’m missing something fundamental here

    • @NerdAndProudOfIt

      thanks for your comment, jackson, appreciate it! the problem is lying to customers about overprinting of product, failing to aknowledge product fatigue and having too many set and then destroying longterm value and brand perception by literally dumping product. not to mention the slap in the face to anybody who bought this product for the full price.
      absolutely tragic!
