I'm enjoying the scenery around here. The rock cuts are my favorite and they look great with the moss on them. I'm guessing the construction methods of the time involved removing somewhat more material than was necessary, but they look more natural than if they were made by the precision methods used today. Another great video 👍

Thanks. As you can see I enjoy the cuts as well. There is quite a bit of rock work for the next 10 miles or so and then there's none for the next 20 miles. Videos on that 20 mile section won't be out until the spring when hiking starts up again, but enjoy those cuts while you can!

Hi, Any idea how the spurs were named? I ask because I noticed that one of the sidings was called AB Evans. My grandfather was AB Evans and he worked for the CN off and on around that time but more towards Rainy River.

Most of these were logging spurs and they were usually named after the person/company who was using the spur if that helps.
The AB Evans spur was located at MP 119.9, near where the spur was built to the Mattabi Mine in the 1970s near Silver Dollar, ON. It was in use from 1927 to 1931. Depending on the age of your grandfather, there might be a connection there.

@@padwrrthanks for the info. It seems that the dates don’t match as my grandfather worked for the CN earlier, like the 20’s and 30’s in the Rainy River area.

@@mikeevans3712 Maybe a relative? My dad had four cousins all with the same first name and all were named after my great grandfather.

@@padwrr that could be. My sister said that there were other relatives of AB in Thunder Bay going back.
