I think that the color changes Friesian horses go through are part of what makes them so beautiful and interesting. In the Winter, they are a glorious shiny black from mane to tail. In Summer, their coat is a rich dark brown that is made even more beautiful by the contrast of their red-orange tipped manes. They are simply gorgeous animals. 👁❤Friesian 🐎🐎🐎!
Love how you explain herd behavior. I'd miss a lot without your interpreting for us. Poor Lieke, getting bullied by two horses; even by her big sister Geertje! The sky was stunning and I loved seeing the hares jumping so high.
So interesting to see how the social dynamics work out in such a strong herd. Those hares were feeling very safe and secure in your pasture, though! They only jump in that way (called 'binkying') when they're happy or excited. Very pleased to see that!
I was wondering about that...since it's not mating time for them. So they're just letting off steam? I always watch out for hares, when I'm out walking in the fields, but I rarely ever get to see them from up close.
The hares playing the the pasture was neat to see. It didn’t seem to phase the horses. The herd is growing so fast it seems. All with different personalities and they are all beautiful ~ The crane on the water was gorgeous ~ Loved the video~ 😊♥️
You always help us to understand what’s going on in the herd. It wouldn’t be at all visible to our eyes without the explanations you give us…who is higher in status, what each gesture and movement discloses about the horses’ status and about their relationships with each other, and with you. Although Puppy Dog Lianne is pretty easy to figure out when she comes up to you, full of adoration!

I feel bad for poor Lieke🙈😢getting bullied by older mean girls even her sister,Geertje has become quite bossy & sassy it’s all the time spent with her clique(Gea & Hester).Lianne always comes over first for some cuddles I adore her,a sweetheart who got me hooked on the rest of the herd when I saw her as a tiny baby cuddling with mama Saly🦄❣️The horses have a great philosophy on scratching lol it must be nice always having someone close by when you have an itch you can’t reach yourself & they have their pick of who to ask,if one says no there will usually be another willing to do it.😄 As always thank you for brightening the start of our day with a video it never fails to make me smile when I see a new one.🤗🤗

I’ve always loved horses from the time I was a little girl & I used to read absolutely ANYTHING about them I could get my hands on particularly fantasy fiction about wild horses,I still love reading about them except now it’s learning about horse behavior & things like that I finished one of Monty Roberts books recently. I also have a book about wild bands of horses in the Pryor Mountains of Wyoming, mainly about one in particular though a stallion named Cloud & his family. I always thought Friesian horses were beautiful & special but it wasn’t until I found Yvonne’s videos more than a year ago by now that I really found out how incredibly gentle loving & genuine these creatures were ESPECIALLY her Majesty Queen Uniek & Lianne after this I was completely hooked & I fell in love with the breed. This herd however is very special of course,partly because they are Friesian’s but I really believe the rest of it has to do with the amazing team of people who raise them & are dedicated to their needs 24/7, Yvonne,Rein & the other ladies are absolutely amazing every day in how they care for them & it truly is very special to see.😊💕🌈🌈

I agree that Yvonne really does have a gift for working with the horses it’s almost like watching magic in action when she appears they all make a beeline for her like a magnet. She is a very special lady with a beautiful soul & big heart & I believe the horses can tell this about her,it’s said animals seem to know certain things even things us humans have no clue about but in this situation the horses are 100% correct about Yvonne,I love seeing how she interacts with them & vice versa. The bond between her & Uniek is something else though it’s almost like they can look at each other & communicate some unspoken language between them nobody else understands,of course Uniek can’t talk but it’s like the two of them don’t need words they simply are so deeply connected that each gets what the other is thinking.😊
Wow, things get complicated. Hester is being a Mean Girl! I know it's just how it is with horses, but I feel sorry for Lieke getting pushed around by Hester and then Geertje. And Lianne, of course, is always full-snout in the photo, she makes me laugh every time.

I had friends who had several horses in their pasture who use to play with the local rabbit. One day they noticed the horses were very down. One of them had accidentally stepped on the rabbit.
Question for all the knowledgeable horse people: why does Waloubet often have a blanket on but the Friesien horses never do? Hugs to all the hirse lovers, and especially to Yvonne and her family. Get well, Yvonne. We need you. We love you.
It is just owner preference. Sometimes it might be to help keep her cleaner, sometimes it is cold (although horses can handle cold very well)...it is really only because her owner likes it. 🧡🧡

Of course, they are all beautiful, but I think Ghea has the nicest head and arched neck carriage. Also, Liane and Liake have more delicate and pretty heads. Imho, all it is, just an opinion. Also, the antics of the hares, the beautiful skies and the flight (although the heron was maybe a little annoyed sounding at having been disturbed maybe??) of the heron, all very lovely. Thank you for sharing your lovely life with Friesians.
It seems the yearlings gather around you more than the 2 year olds. Is that because their memory of you when they were foals is more recent? It also seems nobody was trying to be bossy when you first got there but then poor Lieke got bullied by a couple 2 year olds. Does this happen because when you show up they know you are the boss and sometimes you have to remind them, and then they have to prove they are the boss over somebody else and it's the 1 year olds who are at the bottom of the pecking order.
We don't know why the one year old come over to Yvonne more often than the two year olds. When we go to the horses they all stop with the thing they where doing for them selves. They than all want to come over but thats not always aloud by the rules of the herd. 😄❤
Poor Lieke!😟🥺 Geertje is in charge of the herd & Hester said, "I am 2nd in charge not the sister!!" Geertje said, "That's right!" But I got real tickled when Lianne stood right in front of the camera like she was saying, "film ME not them!!!" The 1 year olds really are attached to you!! Does this happen because when you show up they know you are the boss and sometimes you have to remind them, and then they have to prove they are the boss over somebody else and it's the 1 year olds who are at the bottom of the pecking order.
We don't know why the one year old come over to Yvonne more often than the two year olds. When we go to the horses they all stop with the thing they where doing for them selves. They than all want to come over but thats not always aloud by the rules of the herd. 😄❤
