I think the reason Slot didn't get it, is that Liverpool only played 2 matches in August. They only beat Ipswich and Brentford. The UTD match fell in September.
Lots of focus, understandably, on how we replace Odegaard (and I agree with you Charles: if Jesus fit, he’s 9, Havertz 10 ahead of Jorginho and Partey - Saka and Martinelli wide). What I think is probably smart to consider, is how we’d change things from the bench if we need to chase the game in the second half. You’d figure Trossard for Jesus at 60ish anyway. Sterling for Martinelli. That leaves you with 2 players great at finding space in the box - but you then need more creativity to get them the ball. Nwaneri for Partey/Jorginho - Nwaneri to 10 and Havertz rotating to left 8. Maybe Zinchenko to help us control possession. Despite being short in terms of who’s available, that still looks a decent set of options to me. What do you think Charles?
I think Nwaneri is probably ready. I would feel more positive if he was in the game with Jorgi, his active coaching during the game would be a good ingredient. There is so much talent in our squad that we are going to have an interesting derby, we have enough to win. COYG
There seems to be this overwhelming view that without 2 players we have less of chance of winning. I call BS on that. If city can play without key players on occasion then we must be able to. I think Arsenals evolution has moved much more quickly than Arsenal fans evolution to be able to deal with set backs. It’s squealing pig syndrome. I’m bored to death listening to hyperbolic hysterical fans crying like toddlers when there are set backs. Our depth has got better and better every season. Jorginho in for Oedegaard. Yes please. Partey in for Rice. Yeah pretty good. Now they may not be at there absolute best, but that’s better than most first team midfielders. Partey has lost a few yards but his precision passing is high class and as he’ll be plying closely to Jorginho it will be tight in the middle. Which will force spurs wide. We’ve got our stupidly brilliant defence. I’m also certain Saka will put on a Captain’s performance. Sterling will cause havoc in spurs high line. Jesus as well. Havertz will cause mayhem. This isn’t Arsenal of 5 years ago.
Away from the smaller matter of the NLD today… Jhon Duran at Villa looks a handful, and the exact sort of striker that would flourish at arsenal and in this team
I agree he has gone up another level inmo. And after writing this reply he scores an absolute worldy to win against Everton. His goal to minute ratio is impressive.
White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber, Partey, Jorginho, Havertz, Sterling, Jesus, Saka. I want dribblers and pace up front, with Jesus and Havertz alternating positions.
Jesus is fit but not FULLY Fit. He will start on the bench! Trossard will start in the pocket and havertz will be up top. Martinelli will also start and Raheem will come on ofc the bench.
Why is everyone assuming this they will play the same formation and try and fit players in that might work? They have played 4222/424 before when they’ve wanted to sit deep and absorb pressure before breaking.
Hi Charles, Arteta is bang on about the size of the squad. Part of the reason our culture has changed for the better is that we are not a prison. We no longer hold onto players that don’t play, no matter the quality or potential. No “dead weight” in the squad and no players desperately trying to get out. Although I’m still gutted about esr’s departure I agree with Mikel that there is no real depth issues in the squad. Ready for the win tomorrow regardless of who’s in the midfield. Cheers, Noah
Depending on who is available, I would start - Raya White Sailba Gabriel Timber Partey Jorginho Havertz Saka Trossard Martinelli This line up would be ideal considering the injuries we have. Then we could introduce Jesus, Sterling and Nwanieri for a bit of chaos. I also wouldn't be againest the idea (if calafiori is fit enough to start), to play either Timber in a DM role along side Partey. Reason being is he has the legs to do a Rice type role in covering the pitch and being aggressive. Either way, no matter who starts, as long as we can get get 3 points, I will be happy!
@AustinEmekaIhekire Last season we saw Havertz and Trossard do some inter-play, where they would switch between their positions. If they do that again tomorrow, I think that could work really well.....hopefully 😅
@@dveryblueblood I get where you are coming from, but we struggled as he was going into similar positions that Odegaard was playing. With no Odegaard and potentially Jorginho and Partey behind him. It should give him a bit more freedom and space to play in that role.
Could a 4-4-2 invincibles type formation be used tomorrow. Having Havertz and Jesus up front, Martinelli and Saka on the wings and a midfield of Jorginho and Partey or maybe a midfield of Jorginho or Partey and Nwaneri? Would this lack creativity in the midfield? Would our defense not be the same treat attacking?
What does Arteta mean when he says "we have certain limitations that we know about" in regards to the summer transfer window? ... Limitations by choice or limitations by PSR, limitations by the owners, limitations because of key targets that werent available this window? ...
If there is no ligament damage then it is possible Odegaard can play this week, as basically its then just a sprained ankle and with daily physio to reduce the swelling its more than possible Players go over on their ankles often in training and then play the following weekend and nobody's even aware of it. Just so happened this was a match so people saw it I guess the further scans will be to ensure theres no ligament damage and the ankle has settled dowm
I think you are right…I think MA will go with TP and Jorginho because they know what to do in his system….not the game to put others in the midfield…Jesus comes in around 60 min
With Jesus back and Arteta heaping praise on Sterling I think both could start. Both great on the press, along with Martinelli and Saka we'd be putting them under huge pressure. So for me it's Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber, Partey, Sterling, Havertz, Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.
Charles I can't help but question the media. They asked 1 question about the actual game this weekend. Plus our own manager thought the game was on Saturday and no one even questioned that. He said the board is the most driven he has ever seen?? He came from city and us saying we are motivated?? Mhmm
When has our board ever shown that their driven? The Kroenkes have shown time & time again for years now they're only interested in their own American sports franchises. This is just some brown nosing because he's been given a new contract despite the club not winning a trophy for way too long.
Hi Charles I hope you are well and in good form I accept that playing Ethan would be a great risk but if Arteta trusts him when will he ever get a chance Charles as I'm sure if Mikel trusts this kid then will we see this kid Cesc and Jack were kids and given an opportunity .let's seize the moment.
Raya, tmber, Gabriel, Saliba, White, Partey, Jorghino, Sterling Trossard, Havertz, Saka. I would like to see Sterling playing the 10 role. But I do not think Mikel Arteta would take a gamble to play him in that role in a MLD. It is more likely that he would pick a more conservative line-up. Raya, tmber, Gabriel, Saliba, White, Partey, Jorghino, Havertz Trossard, Jesus, Saka.
I agree 100%. With 3 dribbling pressers like Saka, Jesus, and Sterling we will have them against the ropes. I would have Jesus and Havertz switching positions.
Good Afternoon Charles, Just wanted to come back here after seeing the Szoboszlai incident this afternoon and get your thoughts?? I thought referees have no choice with these type of incidents? Hope that KMI panel of clowns all unanimously vote for that being the wrong decision by the Ref…. COYG
I was expecting a second yellow card for Szoboszlai - "By the letter of the law (as they love to say), it is a yellow card offense to kick a ball away to delay a restart" - It shouldn't matter if it worked against Liverpool or not. INCONSISTENCY!!!

I think we are going to get beaten.Son always turns up.Their back line although it plays high is dangerous. Romero and Van Der Den are often seen in the opponents box and Porro has a goal in. hm. Zinchenko is poor.

He plays left 8 for Ukraine and he also isn't responsible for triggering the press. We would have no physicality if we had zinny at 10 with Jorginho and party
