I'm so glad I come from Bolton, and to have Fred as part of bolton history, and to see you've done, some much research, interest, that has been great content for everyone and entertainment.
You always put more than your best into everything, and always come out on top.
Would love to see you interview his son that would be the icing on the cake?
Love doing live chats,as the warmth and friendly Ness from your subscribers,is worth giving up a friday night out for😉
Keep up the fantastic work your doing editing, adding music, research, taking out time to make us great content to watch, take care enjoy rest of your day, cheers to Fred 🍺

Well said 👏
That drone footage with fred talking over the top of the chimney was genuinely some of the most beautiful editing and footage I have ever seen! Well done mate, top class work just beautiful. Thank you
Thank you m8 I really appreciate that man.
never evaluated the collaboration with a steeplejack it would be interesting given the fact that in Italy such work does not exist
I used to work on the boilers at TurnerBrothersAsbestos, Rochdale over thirty years ago! Yes I'm still here! So is that factory!
The amstrad intro was a classic I’d say this vid is definitely in your top 10. Well done blue did proud there.
Thank you brother I trully appreciate it man.
I love how you guys are keeping freds history alive its great to see keep it up .

Great vid for a very well known man had privilege to meet Fred when I was a young lad
Brilliantly clarky- i used to live at the 1st house on chapel place, behind the lever bridge pub and saw fred there many times, he pulled up in his steam engine and parked it outside- top guy♥️ i need to try freds flat cap now i love real ale- thankyou for doing this , what a great building this mill is 👏👏👏

RIP, Sir Fred.
Hey I'm new to your channel, I've been a fan of Fred Dibnah for several years & like your content.
I've lived in Australia 🇦🇺 for 44 years but I was born in Bradford 1972
I've watched that Ena Mill video with Fred quite a few times, and everytime it sends a shiver down my spine when he's near the top. An absolute legend!
Brilliant no other words !
Thank you Gary.
Wish Fred lived forever 😢
I wish I’d of met him xxx massive hero of mine ❤
it's a shame Fred's last wife demanding a pay out when he died. His house got left alone with everything still there and it got robbed so the steam engines got moved. How did Fred leave the house too. it should still be in family. his lads should be there with the engines and still mining
I bet the Vultures were circling there before the funeral. People are the worst species on Earth.
Ffin women for ya.
Wow clarky you truly have smashed it in this video...fantastic video
Thank you Paula
These videos are so well done time and effort you guys put in shows . I had a picture with fred when i was younger i lost it such a shame .
Hey Jay ! What a superb vid. very interesting informative. Fun moments and moments of reflection and memories of Fred. There’s only one Fred ! He inventor of many things with ideas he accomplished many items and ways only he did things. The total bravery scaling that gigantic chimney at ena mill, what good works he did ! Ena mill so historic with. Vast floors so large. Appreciated and realised in person how big they really are, with beautiful ceilings brickwork unique creating. Eeriness. Loved seeing the age old. Cash register and the fine designs and rework on it, amazing ! And sewing machine. A singer ! Well ….. part 2. Most certainly did not disappoint Jay. The time work and effort and patience you wholeheartedly put into it Jay is well appreciated. Also. The music compilations, superb, and fitting to each part. Cannot wait for next episode !!!!!! Keep up the good work. A Top watcher and follower. I am !!!! Di. X

Pleasure m8 your welcome and thanks for helping keep the great British pub alive.
Well done video RIP Fred.
Absolutely fantastic job 👍
Thanks m8.
Omg love this, keep them coming, fantastic
Excellent film, well balanced content between Fred, his life and work, industrial and architectural heritage, and the working and social lives of those people who lived and worked in those mills. Amazed at how well preserved the building was, those Victorians knew how to build things to last, as Fred very much appreciated and used to explain in his books and on his television programmes.
Times past, and what we have lost. Things might have been hard then, but I suspect no more so than today. Then there was great community spirit and everyone pulled together.
Keep up the great pictures and stories; a different perspective on our great, economic, social and industrial histories,
Well done, and thankyou,
Phil H
What a comment man thank you Phil I appreciate it brother. All the best man. Clarky.
Emotional seeing fred and now great job
Work and place of worship in sight hopefully day off on a Sunday !they did long hours in there up and down the levels wow what a grand building in excellent condition for further use good news there .preservation is a very good thing the building looks sound as a pound.great tour a little cheek and ask friendly gets you in the door your like the best sales rep gets his foot in the door and your up all the stairs lol.😊this building is still in use it’s fantastic and the steeple still there Fred would be so happy it’s still there.a plaque on permanent structure !relative to open it !do you like that Fred!Where,s the beer to celebrate all this.salt of the earth Simon.
what a lovely professional and thoughtful and interesting video. This should be on mainstream TV as a documentary. brilliant again Mr Clarke
Nice one Paul totally appreciate that pal.
This is the work of someone with a true passion for what he enjoys. So, sooo good mate. I don't need a TV licence. All I need is the Urban Collective 👍
Really enjoyed that. Fred Dibnah what a hero
Cheers John glad you enjoyed it pal.
Fred was a legend one of a kind I really enjoyed this brilliant.
Thank you Lizzy
My goodness. I did some of my plumbing training at Ena Mill years ago. It was the other building across the road which was also part of the Ena mill complex. The architecture was identical. The stairs and vertical iron pillars... Into the goods lifts at brew time. I cannot believe it has gone. It was used by a company called RF Training, who I believe went bust owing huge amounts of money. I always gave a nod to the mill chimney in honour of Fred Dibnah , Blaster Bates and the boys who worked these areas.
Yeah I've been researching Mr Bates m8 what a. Character he was.
Really enjoyed this mate. Love the genuine passion for all the things you discover and uncover. Is that a Salford accent I detect!? Thumbs up from Sunny Stretford not too far from you!
Keep up the good work fella.
Yes it is brither and thankyou very much for watching I appreciate it m8
i live Blackpool i would love to go and look at Ena Mill one day guess i could get a train . i am so glad they have a blue plaque for Fred i did not know this . brilliant video the drone footage and shots of Fred . hope you will do a few more of these locations . stay safe .

Episode 2, the Magic continues. As impressed and moved as I was for Ep. 1. Astounding work. Cheers from Québec, Canada.
Tha k you very much Michel I really appreciate that m8.
Very special that film mate, filled me with emotion during the cinematic part's with Fred talking, looking forward to the next video's Clarky 😊
I'm proper happy to hear that m8 that was deffinately the intention pal. Fred had a wonderful way with words and was able to tell a story like no other.
Yes, he was like no other and will always be missed, a true working class hero, and I'll always treasure the book he signed for me when I met him in 2003 !
fred is indeed a fascinating character. i'm yankee so i had no idea who he was until youtube came along i found his docs purely by random. i do have to wonder, though, how is it somebody who did such physically demanding labor got as overweight as he did towards the end.
and i can't believe he built that chimney on his mom's pad when he was 16! i'm 55 and i couldn't get anywhere near that even now. my construction skills now are nowhere near what his were at 16! incredible.
Yeah sam where pal as for the weight that'll be down to all them pints!
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt Yeah sam where pal (?)
Just wanted to say I really enjoyed this series about the legend of Fred, as a Bolton lass who lived not too far from him at Manchester road Bolton, I just wish I'd have met him sadly didn't, to now living in Leigh and visit ena mill on a regular basis, I am so pleased that they are conserving the building and bringing it back to life, instead of knocking down like they have many times before, Fred was right when he said dark satanic mills are beautiful, and they are history everywhere, not the concrete car parks of today keep up the good work
Thanks m8 I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Abb Kent meters they still have a factory in Luton my grandad worked on their offices in the late 70s I'm so pleased you showed the meter thank what great video I've been waiting for this thank you ❤️👊
Tha ks very much and I'm glad you enjoyed it and we showcased something of interest for yiu
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt can't wait for the next episode fella nice one 👍
Nice one for sharing your wonderful film of this legendary man .. a real treat.
Clarky I got to say brother you've really done Fred justice mate an absolute joy to watch mate and what a top touch by going to the brewery and the story behind it mint m8 really was
I'm buzzing you think that brother there are so many possibilities with this series it's untrue so I can't even imagine how many episodes there'll be but Il know when to pull the plug and I'm gonna do it in style!
Try and keep it going as much as you can mate because all the little touches your doing with it mate are brilliant, one of them was the lift music when you was going up class mate.
@@Salfordchappy Lol had to be done to break up the awkwardness lol
Classic touch tho brother
Thank you for yet another great video Clarky.
Love your videos and keep up the good work
Cheers Mark I appreciate it brother.
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt no probs👍
One of the best videos I've watched. Unbelievable. Simon the mill owner is full of knowledge, imagine owning that building. Amazing 👏 superb filming.
It opened in 19 12 ,can you imagine the buzz going round in 14 ,when all the lads wanted to go to ww1. And the demise of theme thereafter. History is like imagining yesterday's memories. There not that far away, you know.
Had to come back for part 2 Clarky. That was another amazing tour and spell bounding look into Fred's life. They've done away with these old ale houses now haven't they - right round the country. But that brewery had a vibe of old about it. I would have had a pint of Fred's flat cap. Love the way you're digging the gems out here bro. The Ena Mill - mind blowing or what. Maan, I'd love a mooch about there. The engine room? Awesome stuff tiles and all. It's all still there Clarky and yeah what a dude scaling them heights. Well, you've done a fantastic series here. I enjoyed it very much. All the best up there. Mark. And oh yeah we got to see the man himself toasting!
I'm so glad you like it brother I really appreciate it. I must admit I allways loved watching Fred but since starting this series I have an even deeper admiration for the man. And yep a good old toast. Here's one to you and your brother Paul too. Cheers. Clarky.
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt Ah, you did really well on this one Clarky. Yeah, I can feel and imagine the deeper respect for the man himself. It's so good you remembering him this way. Thanks for kindness bro - I so appreciate that and the video dude. Peace.
Hi mate fantastic video. Simon was such a nice man and good luck to him. The drone footage was well good and can't wait for next fred video. Rip Fred Big time missed. Thanks
An absolutely flawless production. The old footage of fred at the beginning and the way you edited the sound to almost sound ghost like, was enough to get me choked up. The drone shots were great, and the transitions to old photos, as always were well put together. I've been a fan of your work for over 3 or 4 years now and you really have come on hugely, over that time. Well done JC! Phil B
Nice one Phil I'm just glad people have stuck with us and helped us to grow to this point and not got bored that to me one of my best achievements. Have a quality weekend m8. Clarky.
Great video chaps. Your film started with Fred up the Briar chimney in Shaw. I remember it well. He was a great man born into the wrong age. I wonder what he would think of today's Great Britain. Not a lot i am sure
The gauge is for measuring humidity
Again, a bit late bit finally sitting down to ep2! Thanks for your time and effort! Great watch 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Cheers Hyper
That's called a weavers knotter. When a thread breaks its tied together with this by pulling a trigger.
Quality cheers John.
Keep up the good work you're doing Fred proud 👌👍👍
Cheers Floydski
Fabulous Film Clarky both the content planning and production. I have been in editing for a number of years so I know the work involved! Your stuff is a match and more for any mainstream media without doubt!
Thankyou very much Neil Im so glad that you think that m8 it means a lot!
Thanks Clarky I was really looking forward to watching this & you certainly done a cracking job on this 2nd episode. I will certainly be watching the next one 👍🏻
Nice one. Been waiting for this one 👌🏻 When Fred's giving that talk at that dinner and before he puts his cap on, I always think he looks like Captain Manwaring from Dad's Army. Also, whenever I've watched that scene in the past where Fred's talking to Roger, I always fill up. That full scene is very emotional.
Clarky, probably some of your best work. The drone footage transition on Ena Mill chimney... Woww 👌👌👌😍. Hope we get a part 3.
Oh there's more than part three coming m8 ;)
CANNOT WAIT. Keep it coming 👍👍👍
Who’s that really clean dressed chap ,then he puts the flat cap on,becomes the celebrity
Loved this documentary about Fred was very professionally done! You keep raising the bar on these videos. Surely there are some sort of awards for TH-cam videos so we can nominate you Clarky? All the best 👍
Haha I'm not too sure about that m8 but I deffinately appreictae the viewership and gesture!
Wow , absolutely fantastic to watch, great to see your passion shine through, so glad I saw this era and to see someone like yourself driven to do what you do is amazing. Some brilliant buildings built today but no where near the quality and pride as the old Mills. Great job again mate and such a fitting tribute to a legend. Look forward to more 👍
Thanks Clarky for a fantastic documentary, it was brilliant mate. Churchills pub was originally called The Rosehill and the pub further down Manchester road (also long since closed) was the King William which was the pub that Fred was referring to about the shunters and rail workers frequenting. Banktop Brewery is just up the road from where I live as is The Tap and Flat Cap is a lovely pint. Well done Clarky for this mate, keep up the great work pal. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Yeah it's a beautiful pint pal and had I know I'd bobbed round for a brew lol
Wow Clarky, that was incredible, you never cease to amaze me with your filming, always perfect, just brilliant. What an awesome place, and to think how many times Fred climbed that chimney is mind blowing, I wouldn't even do it once lol. Thank you for all you do and lovely to see you in person again on video. Haha the comment for Gary (dogging) too funny lol...Take care and much love as always from New Zealand x
The meter at 47.29 was used for measuring the humidity in the room, because cotton needed a humid atmosphere in order to be spun and worked. if it was to dry then the cotton suffered.
Brilliant thank you Terry I knew we'd find out in the end much appreciated m8
Yes,yes, yes, thankyou. I didn't know ,but that is exactly what I thought.
Something to do with the wools temperature. But what got me was the angled implement within. God I'm good !!!??
at 59.27 that my friend is a WINDERS KNOTTING TOOL, i am sure if you come across a mill girl on your travels ask her what it is and ask her for a demonstration. love thie video by the way.
I deffo will do m8 thanks very much for the info.
Will there be more on this series? I was really hoping to see ol' Betsy the steam roller. I really enjoyed the series thusfar!
Most definitely pal
The mill reminds me of when you did Spinners Mill, Leigh a few years ago. Another great video, but you really need to come back to The Brooklands and be shown how to pour beer into a glass without the customer losing the will to live! 😂

If it werent for the Empire the industrial revolution couldnt have happened. Stop hating on immigrants! Theres no need.
Wow look at that, I've not seen that since March 88. 58,50 the wooden shuttles.
Mate that takes me back,I was 15 ,16 years old and in a detention centre in Portsmouth, well gosport. Hmp hasler .I used to have to operate a hand loom.
Meaning one person ,one machine. And you'd chuck that under the fibres, and it would hit one end ,you take it out and throw it up the other end . And I loved it.
Wow 1 picture, and it can take you right back, thankyou.
Pleasure m8 thanks for watching.
Notice there's no trolleys around, the nice wooden ones on wheels, wonder if the ginger feret. Commonly known as Mr Pritchard, has already struck here.
Yer sod those chimneys, can you imagine the winds up there.your correct he must of had some minerals. Me I'd go all dizzy and fall. And to think those lot ,would be beered up .f that.
Amazing place that ena mill,if that was in london, it would be full of immigrants or super rich apartments.
Thank god you have a decent council up there. Look at the tower on top of the mill. You don't get architecture like that anymore. It's too expensive they'll say.
More like the skills arnt there, because its not taught anymore.
And what used to be standard, is now specialised. I mean look at those stairs in Bolton museum. I mean they took a pride in their craft,it wasn't just thrown together building a factory or mill.
And it's a poorer country for it .
