As far as I'm concerned, this is still in the cards for the two of them, though if my suspicious are correct, there's still a bumpy road ahead of them before they reach this point. Until we have a body, nobody is dead, and she could very well still be in her medical pod. The hints towards her survival (or revival) are there if you pay close enough attention. Or are just obsessed with each detail whenever we get a piece of lore on a character.
Also, killing not one, but *two* characters before their respective banners are even announced comes across as narratively cheap after what happened in the previous arc.
