Thanks for the comment! As far as AV gear, we all had beacons on and prod gear/shovels. Honestly, we were mostly in meadows and stayed clear of slopes over 30 degrees. Definitely something to take seriously out there.

Hey Brian! The snow is pretty crazy out there. We rented from Yellowstone Adventures (Ski doo), and we always have a good experience with them. They have new sleds every season. Highmark rentals is also an option (Polaris I think). Comparable pricing. We own/operate a vrbo/Airbnb in a neighborhood just out of town ( www.vrbo.com/1762543 ). It's a nice option for the money. There are plenty of options to stay in town at a hotel, or other house rentals. Feel free to message me with other questions.

@@rossberglund That’s good; we do the same, but it feels silly not to wear one now, no matter where we end up or stay away from. You’ve got to consider runout zones & terrain traps, too. Borrow, rent, or buy an airbag- it’s all cheap insurance. I bought a MTNPRO bag/vest combo last season with charged cylinder for half price used, and it was barely used. It’s great to have beacons, shovels, and probes, but no way would I keep a beacon in a backpack- those need to be accessible immediately without any fumbling. SPOT Trackers are also a must in my opinion; most of our group carries them. It’s nice being able to send an “I’m ok” ping to friends and family, and have that SOS button in case of emergency. Cell phones can’t be counted on for help in the backcountry. I’m by no means an expert and avoid a lot of difficult terrain & areas too, but safety is no joke.
Totally agree. Back story: the night before we had watched multiple TH-cam videos of snowmobilers caught in avalanches, which is no joke and scary. In the video we were being a bit facetious as we really didn't want to experience a slide. The snow was awesome.

#2 is a sketchy rule. I'd want to avoid exposure to avalanche terrain. Other then that snow looked amazing.

February snow is typically stable if you pay attention to your snow pits. Ever been to Seeley lake? Plan a trip. It’s EPIC! Look at the topo
