It’s so funny you didn’t catch Lucius and Pete were a thing. In the scene where Izzy catches Lucius drawing Fang, Izzy basically threatens Lucius with telling his boyfriend if he doesn’t knock it off, and Lucius yells out “Hey Pete. I drew Fang naked” Pete responds “Nice. He’s drawn most of the crew” and Lucius tells Izzy “We don’t own each other.” Paraphrasing from memory but I think that’s pretty close.
So hilarious to me that the crew hated Izzy so much that it made them like Stede in comparison. They were rallying for a proper pirate to follow and then Izzy showed up ordering them around and they were like “You can’t tell us what to do you’re not our real captain.” In relation to this, it’s extra funny that Black Pete was the most vocally opposed until episode 5 and then all it takes is one (apparently UNNOTICED (chose a good episode to bring The Wife onboard to point that out)) hookup with Lucius and all his problems were solved. I said every crewmate has one context-specific skill or area of expertise and the one thing that Black Pete seems to be really good at is being a sweet boyfriend (and whittling).
"That's not the way you want to penetrate him" 😂😂😂 thankfully I had no coffee in my mouth. As for not noticing Lucius' affair thing, just blame your absentee braincells on Taika's leather 😂❤
Taika's eye acting in this show is just astonishing. And I know that's partly because it was harder to move other parts of his face without unsticking the beard, but still: it's really effective, and the bathtub scene is one of the scenes that comes to mind as an example.
The guy who played Blackbeard's asshole dad is a LOVELY man named Damien Gerard, who I've had the joy of getting to interview twice. He is a fantastic and underrated actor, do look him up as you're falling down the brainrot vortex.
Always a joy to see these appear :) Stede being pinned to the mast for half of the episode is SO ridiculous, but then so is Lucius chopping off his own finger, the crew turning the ship into a school production of a haunted house, and Blackbeard being stuck in a harness because he was trying to make an entrance.
